Hi, Philip and Danny, This is truly a PHENOMENAL showcase of exactly how a modern Christian rock song should sound! Brilliant songwriting and arranging, and Danny's immense talent really shines through on the instrumental and vocal performances. The main vocals and harmony parts reminded me of Steve Walsh on early Kansas, the guitar solo was smokin' hot, and the production and mix was absolutely fantastic. Amazing work, guys! Bob

Absolutely incredible production. Great Song/Lyrics Philip. Great arrangement, instrumentation and vocal performance Danny. My only comment, and I'm splitting hairs, is I'm not certain if I'm a fan of the piano sound. Guys, this is, IMO, has down one of the best productions I've heard here in a long, long time. Awesome!!! Philip: Thank you so much for the chance to work on this with you as well as your trust in me to "let myself go" a bit. This was one of the best experiences I've ever had and I'm really happy with the outcome. Just a quick note about this song for everyone. Philip had another song already written that was pretty good as it was. I believe he posted it on the forum here and got a little mixed feedback. So he passed the song onto me to see if we could improve upon it and suggested possibly turning it into a love power ballad. I wasn't sure it was possible, but then grabbed my acoustic guitar, learned the changes and instant inspiration for this version came about. So I threw a test project together in my spare time, we made changes until we got it where we both were happy and then I went for the real recording and this was what we settled on. :) LP Mike: Thanks! I appreciate ther kind words. Shad: Wow, I never expected this...you're usually a very hard sell...glad we won you over this time. Thanks a lot! :) Rus: Thanks so much brother! Yeah, I did mean that. Totally hard on myself with everything I do...especially vocals because they seem to be the hardest for me to grasp and be consistent with. I struggle with it on a daily basis but just do my best and keep on trying. Bob: Glad you liked it, thanks! Always a fan of your stuff man. Meant to comment on your last piece which I enjoyed as usual...been trying to be on and comment a bit more. Some days I can, some days I can't...but I try to listen whenever I can to everyone. Thanks again! Frank: Thanks so much! I really did go all out on this, thank you for noticing. Most times in collab situations, I do my best to play for the song and the person I'm collaborating with. In this one, Philip gave me full reign to be myself and just do what I felt was best with the words/song he had given me. Some of his approaches within that other song, I used...other things, I totally re-wrote from the ground up and wanted to really make it shine. Thanks again brother. Herb: Thanks so much, appreciate the listen! markno: Glad you liked it, thanks so much! Lynn: Another hard sell you are Sir....really glad to get your nod of approval here. Thanks for listening and commenting. Coffee House Collab: Thank you! Yeah I'm very hard on myself vocally. It's unfortunately, the weakest link in my chain. I've been forced to sing my entire life whilst not always enjoying it because well, it's harder to enjoy when you're forced. I wasn't forced for this of course, but in all the stuff I sing for myself on my original stuff, if I ever found a singer that would do my material justice, I'd bow out in a second. So I'm sort of stuck with me. LOL! Thank you again! Jamesg: Thanks my friend! Psalmist35: Thanks so much! You know, I struggled with that piano sound myself and messed around with several before deciding on this one which was Alicia's Keys. The others I tried were either too plinky sounding or too big for the arrangement. The ones that were plinky...when you removed the plinky-ness, they sounded weird. Like the whole thing that made them sound good was the plinky attack which to me, didn't quite fit this song. The one's that were a bit too big, sounded weird when I tried to scale them down and control them. This one seemed to fit with the arrangement without being too dominant or plinky and had sort of a darker tone to it. I felt that seemed to represent the piece due to it being about loving so much, it sometimes hurts to where it can bring on a little darkness in spite of the light of love. :) Glad you enjoyed it though, thanks! digi: Thanks Mike! Glad you enjoyed it brother! Scotty: Hahaha thank you bro. What an awesome compliment! :) I just think about how it might have sounded if I had you in there playing those orchestra parts! I honestly almost pm'd you on this as I was experimenting. But I figured, I'd probably not be able to afford you and well, I really wanted to try and tackle it and think like an orchestrator for a change. Thanks so much again. dcumpian: Thanks for the kind words and the listen. Much appreciated. Thank you all once again. I'm sure Philip will stop around when he gets a minute. You guys rule...thanks!!! :) -Danny

Love the flow of this piece. Danny, you can do it all but your vocal dynamics/delivery are just killer. Wonderful lyrics and the mix allows us to hear every word. What I really like is I hear both of your styles in this song and that makes for some great ear candy. KUDOS GENTS! Kev

And two, the intro made me think of KCl & Jojo's "All My Life" (You probably thought of it afterwards though). Looking forward very patiently for your next tune! Keep up the outstanding work in both arenas!!

Apparently there are levels of coolness....and from what I am hearing right now it sounds like both Danny and Philip are clipping the coolness meter! This is a really well done professional production all the way around. Danny you have a great voice, but I know the problems and blessings that come from being your own worst critic. The guitar solo and tone sound great. Very tasteful phrasing!!! I just got one question. Danny are you really leaving the forum? oh I hope not.

bapu Is it just me or did the title of this thread look like Danny Danzi was leaving the forums, SONAR and music all together? Actually, I got sick to my stomach when I saw this thread title. I thought he passed away and I didn't hear about it and this was a tribute type thing. Danny and I have had our differences, but I'd never in a million years want to see anything happen to him, or anyone here, even 'he who shall remain blocked'. I remember a tutorial video Danny did one time years ago explaining how to adjust for record timing latency. I expected a completely different voice singing this than what I heard based off his voice in that video. The whole thing from the vocals, to the instruments, production, mixing, and mastering is perfect, plus it's an excellent song. I loved it. Bub.

eko: Thanks for the listen and the kind words! Ed & Frank: When Philip made a mention to me that he posted this song, when I came to check in on it, I thought the same thing when I saw the title. LOL! Nah, I don't think it was a ploy. I didn't even know he was going to post this to be honest and you know Philip, he's not one that ever does the "ploy" thing. :) Tim: Thank you! Really appreciate it bro! Beepster: I owe you for all the theory stuff you shared with me and went through the pains of hell to create, so if you'd like me to play drums on a track for you, I'll gladly do it. I'm a metal head at heart, so no worries with me changing up for style. I don't know how well I'll do with your crazy timing stuff...lol...but I can usually do pretty well and promise to try my best for you. I've been playing drums longer than guitar, so I can usually accommodate. Thanks for the kind words. :) drumstixkev: Thanks so much bro! Philip was a stickler for making sure every word was heard. My personal favorite version of this tune is one that has the vocals a little darker. But with feedback from Philip, I managed to come up with a version that gave us a happy medium. So glad you enjoyed it, thanks! Reece: Thanks very much! No, you're not allowed to give up. You've come too far and have gotten really good at this. There's no turning back now. I'll have to hunt you down and coax you back into it with becan! :) Rus: Thanks man. Yeah I try as hard as I can. I fail quite a bit and it hurts. I don't post my music on here because, well, most times I really don't think anyone would enjoy it and sometimes when I've felt I've really done a nice job, my skin isn't quite thick enough to handle harsh crits. I'm also really hard on myself production wise and know that I do a lot of talking on here so I'm a bit ashamed of showcasing music that may not be as polished. I know some people actually like it when we have a little dirt under our finger nails...but I posted something on here one time that wasn't quite done and I paid the price for it. All the comments about it were true, but it taught me to never post something that isn't baked all the way. LOL! What can I say...I'm actually very insecure. Yeah, actually, I am a musician..lol....or try my best to be when I'm not recording/mixing/mastering for other people. I'm working on a new album that I hope to release sometime soon. I'll probably post a few mixes up here when they are more ready as I know that if I can pass the Sonar forum test, I'll pass anywhere. :) Janet: thanks so much! I was actually going to mail you and ask you how YOU would have played piano on this. Then I just decided to mess around on my own. I couldn't decide if I wanted more left hand or not. When I tried it, it seemed a bit too busy and walked over top of my cello. So I just did the left hand sparringly. I hope I made the right choice...it seemed to work better with the piece over-all. Thanks again. :) Marcus Curtis: Most kind words there, thanks a lot! We try our best to clip the coolness meter. He reels me in when I get too far out there and I do the same with him. It's an interesting team. A Christian guy into primarily skate type/dance groove music, and me being a rock/pop/metal head. LOL! We conform to each other and really love what we do. We hope others do as well, but if not, we enjoy it and really have a blast. No brother, I'm not leaving the forum. That was just the title of the song "So Long". :) Ben: Thanks for the kind words and the listen. Yeah, Philip is the king of quirkiness yet always delivers it with a good message and a hook. I borrowed what I could from his original song of this and just had a blast adding my style to it since he wanted a full re-write of the tune. Thanks again. Bub: No worries, I'd never pass away without clearing it with you first. LOL! :) Same here man, differences aside, I too would never want to see anything bad happen to you. As a matter of fact, for what it's worth and I mean this, I've always kept you in my prayers for the whole job thing as well as your health. It seems things are going well for you now with the new house, building you just built and you beat that pneumonia thing thank God. I hope things continue to go well for you. You sure have been through a lot the past few years. Hopefully good things are on the horizon. Glad you liked everything here, much appreciated. :) -Danny
