If these are the guys who so called re-invented Sonar with X1...Honestly...they need to be shot with s**t and hung up for stinking. No wonder X1 is such a mess...if this is how they spent their time ......as opposed to perfecting their premiere software ...than all I can say is ..how embarrassing!!!! What the hell are the execs from Roland smoking???

All it needs is midi and we can jump ship with X1! I wonder how laying down a guitar track would work with that thing? How is it that piece of crap can have the mp3 liscense and X1 can't. Now I'm even getting mad.

This could all be coded into a smart phone app. eliminating the microphone, software and laptop. I already have a similar setup but I call it voice mail. A USB cable and I can dump the contents onto a pc. Why would anyone want this software. Now it would be good for recording conversations, and with the software you could modify the conversations. Or this could be their new "entry drug", followed by add on's that would allow you to add music to that special message. I want a video phone plug for X1b!

i saw this on my youtube feed when they posted it up the other day, I was so pissed when I watched it. Its insulting to say the least. Cakewalk, Roland, whoever... you are ROYALLY ****ing up right now. Do you understand how frustrating it is as a PRO audio user to invest in a product from a PRO audio company only to find that is crippled with bugs, then receive next to no feedback on when fixes and updates will be arriving, and find out the company is busy releasing novelty stocking fillers for the shelves of Best Buy and Comp USA?!?!? I would like to see comments and voting reinstated for the youtube video.

The bigger picture is that they released X1 before the Christmas sales rush when it should not have been released. It is broken to the point of class action law suit territory. I simply cannot use it because of the snap and alignment. But instead of focusing on music production, they are going into vaporware while they are releasing a broken product.. If they are going to do that, at LEAST do it under another label. Anyone with any business sense should know that you don't stain a reputation when it comes to professional tools (no pun intended). They are clearly under miss management and have no clue what their roles are and why they are here.. hmm... kind of like how outsourced developers think. Oh as an update, I'm going to make a lot more videos on my channel testing various DAW'S for electronic production. I'm pretty much going to do the same thing I did with Sonar on the different DAW's and give my thoughts. Whatever I can download new trials for pretty much.

I think one point of the matter is. This would have been handy with 1st generation cel phones 14 years ago, but in 2011 most smartphones have the ability to export audio. Using a mic to record voicemail messages is "so last decade". Best Regards,

Using a mic to record voicemail messages is "so last decade". Best Regards, Thats exactly right. Out of interested I just left myself a new voicemail, downloaded my carriers visual voicemail app from the Android market, long pressed and sent the new message to my gmail account from the available options, and then downloaded and played it on my computer. I kid you not, all in probably just over a minute, and for all for FREE. The smarter choice in looking at current trends, and into the future, would have been to develop an Android and iPhone app. But hey, maybe market research has shown there is money to be made from the product, I dont know, but I doubt it and I know it has no future.

Moved to 'Hardware'? So the gooseneck mic IS the feature?... It isn't the nature or idea of marketing a consumer product that alarms me, it's the idea that somebody at the organization could have dwelt on this long enough to think it had 'legs'. What was the theme for the ideas session 'A Christmas Turkey?' If you are marketing under a 'brand' surely the idea is to choose products that lend an air of desirability in order to prompt people to buy into that brand. A revolving 'Cakewalk' bow tie may have been a more beneficial product toward the 'brand' in this instance. A bunch of 11 years olds on a school assignment would likely have shown much more drive and market savvy than this for heavens sake.

It is ONLY meant for dummy-level recordists with very basic audio needs and music skills, and not for Pro 21st Century phone users. *OBVIOUSLY* - duh!

If anybody is interested I have invented a piece of software called "Forums Forever". Whatever anybody writes down in this thread for instance.... will appear on your screen whenever you want.... yes it is saved FOREVER! This is perfect for those "death bed" moments, whereby your son will play back all your thread arguements, technical setup issues, and general utility enquiries just before you die. Heartwarming I think you will agree ;). BTW if you register now you will get "email forever" as an extra bonus (we sincerely believe there isn't enough email in peoples lives). BTW remember when you Grandma told you to keep quiet when recording a video of a TV programme, well looks like she has the last laugh.

If Sonar X1 fails to take off (and right now the reviews imply otherwise)... ultimately it will be about the product itself, not how it was created. The thread for me is about this interesting new product they have, which has been developed away from the Sonar Dept (as has been clearly stated), anyway good luck to them (well specifically their marketing department who probably came up with the idea ;). Personally I think this is friendly micky taking and this thread should not get too serious.
