So, THAT´S where Cakewalk is heading? Now I get it...

Nothing against consumer software, but how does that fit into the whole CW wants to be Avid/Steinberg/Logic competition with Sonar?
Thought there is some "Pro Audio masterplan"???

(although, nice presenter.. :)

Lol, there's probably more $$ in that than there is selling DAW software.

kubalibre, there is a market for such things.. you mention 3 companies.. but remember them 3 are also tied in with others.. you'd be surprised what  others sell or their sub-divisions.

e.g. how much of garage band / logic share code wise ? just as a thought , obviously I don't know.

companies like Magix do alright out of such products / make a fair bit out of it I'd imagine.. and they Make a few DAW related products.

It's business, much as my local super market sells a cheap tin of pea's but under the same company name (just different range name) they sell expensive lobster..

although the company would like to sell the lobster all the time, it's not something folk by every day (like a high end DAW) .. it's selling the tin's of pea's that bring in the money a lot of the time.

I thought I would wake up soon, screaming. But instead of waking up in cosy 1985 I´m still not back from the future.

Youtube even recommended this to me because I subscribed to the Cakewalk channel.

See? This is what I was saying. And you can also be sure this project has been outsourced. NOW do you see what I'm saying when I talk about and reputation?

Next think you know they'll be making toasters.

Cakewalk is obviously under bad/new executive management who do not understand the business and are making all decisions.

Eww Magix is really a bad example. Remember the time, the old company was called Sek´D. At this time, Magix sold nothing but cheapish DJ and home user software, I mean really the cheap garbage you get for 5 $ at blow out sales.
When Magix bought Sek´d Samplitude, it lost so much reputation, it was horrible and it took literally years until they recovered from that and Magix earned some respect for pro audio software. Samplitude was the undisputed most advanced audio program about 10-12 years ago, who knows where they would be now if the name "magix" wouldn´t have spoiled their success.

So what's the problem? It seems a little elitist to me to be pissed because the same company that makes "your" DAW also makes consumer software.
If it was up to me I wouldn't stake my future on selling software to musicians, most are prima donnas who expect the sky at basement prices.
Who knows, maybe they'll take some of the $$ they make off of this and hire more people to fix all the bugs everybody complains about.

Microphone rather than line in? Clearly a bluetooth speakerphone input appears redundant in this instance (NB if anybody uses this idea I want my percentage!)

Heck I'm going to Speaker out/ Mic in all my line outputs in future - this sounds like the way to go :). In fact thinking about it I could route it all through my blackberry :).

    LOL,

Breakthrough hi-tech transfer method.  Mic on gooseneck stand... oh my!

Not even a thinly veiled attempt at making it look like a dedicated solution.

Man, you could just change the box and sell 101 different versions using the same components.  Even the board spammers have more convincing looking products.

Hey I just thought, I got a whole box full of acoustic couplers dating from the '80's somewhere I wonder if I can re-brand those.

Cakewalk have officially left the building folks.

I thought data transfer off my phone via the USB port was the easy way to do it, but I guess I was wrong.  A gooseneck mic is where it's at, hey they could do a video version where you point a web-cam at the phone.

Address Book Pro anyone?  You get a small pad and pen scroll through your phone numbers and simply jot them down, it really is that simple.

Perhaps this got leaked early and wasn't due 'til April 1st.  Please tell me that is the real reason.

Yes, x64 (yay!)... but unfortunately it's limited to one stereo track (boo!).

You know what would really make this sell like hotcakes... T-Pain mode. AutoTune all your voicemails at the click of a button. And you could apply melodies from popular R&B and dance tunes to the AutoTune'd voicemail, maybe even with a little 303 and TR backing track. The kids would eat that up and beg for more. You kiddin' me?
