So here I go again! getting what I paid for AS advertised!

I bought X3 Pro and it cam with So here I go again and it came with a copy of Melodyne Essential. I got a serial number.
Now I buy Sonar Plat and that comes with a copy of Melodyne Essential. so why am I not given a another serial number?

I recently bought two cars from the same dealer but I only received one steering wheel... oh never mind! Get my point!

Well if you paid full price for a brand new copy of Sonar instead of just an upgrade you would have gotten another s/n for everything.

So what were you going to do? Sell the Melodyne license to cover your upgrade costs?

Yeah, that seems fair.

It was new addition at that point and you still have it.

So what exactly was your plan with that extra s/n?

Starting with X3 Studio/Producer, Cakewalk provides one Melodyne license for each SONAR license. Should you elect to purchase another SONAR license, you will receive another Melodyne license. This was discussed when Profession/Platinum was released. If you feel cheated take it up with Cakewalk Customer Service here is how to contact them http://forum.cakewalk.com...directly-m2090582.aspx

The reason why you pay less for an upgrade is you are paying only for new features introduced since the previous version. This is the way the music software business has worked for at least 30 years. With X3, Melodyne was a new feature so the upgrade cost paid for a Melodyne license.

With Platinum, Melodyne is no longer a new feature but now part of the program. Similarly to X3, the upgrade cost for Platinum paid for the new features (VocalSync, new Control Bar, MIDI Paintbrush, AD 2, Mix Recall, etc.) as well as more new features and bug fixes for another year.

You're a smart guy Craig so lets see what the venders say about NOT telling people that in there ads "if they have it they don't get it". No matter what Cakewalk "believes" is right, The venders are false advertising so lets see what happens Monday with the venders.

Wow I can't for the life of me understand why anyone would get angry that they didn't receive a SECOND, IDENTICAL license for the same piece of software after an upgrade which DIDN'T include an upgraded version of that software. Do you understand what an upgrade is? Prediction: you'll get absolutely nowhere with this complaint, either with Cakewalk or other forum users.

Actually no, you paid for the new features in Platinum. You bought Melodyne when it was a new feature in X3. I think that's pretty clear but if not, see what Cakewalk says.

Not third party.  Cakewalk has to pay Celemony for every Melodyne license. So it doesn't make sense to raise the price of upgrades by building in the cost of another license fee for something someone already has.

I see, inadvertently trolling for Celemony. To upgrade to full Melodyne, you use the Sonar license. You can end up buying 2 full Melodyne to use on 1 Sonar.

Its all good if that's how cakewalk "wants" to do things, and I do get that Craig, but the problem is that they never told anyone that, so it is false advertising. It's plan and simple. I went to the upgrade from x3 pro to Plat ad on Sweetwater page and it says nothing about not getting anything that is offered in the full version.

All the comments for the cakewalk point of view with NO proof.
I gave proof of my view. you can't tell people they are getting something and not give it to them!
that's call lying...

And please don't think this is all about Cakewalk... I've been talking with my local senator about how software corporations are creating undo stress and mental health issues with their lake of quality control and responsibility to put out problem free software. You think it's bad now with car recall? Just wait.

Do I get it right that OP wants usual disclaimer coming with upgrade of some famous software packets:
"After successful installation of upgrade you should uninstall previous version completely, including all third party editions, within 7 days and physically destroy all copies of installation media".
So, he can use "new" Melodyne license (while the old one is immediately blocked).

The pricetag on X3 Producer - > Platinum upgrade must itself been adjusted to that you already have a Melodyne license - so price is lower.

If buying upgrade from any Sonar not including Melodyne license - pricetag is higher and you also get a license.

Did they standardize boxes too hard and sent disk for Melodyne - so box can be used for many upgrade alternatives, or?
So getting the disk one think it must go with a license on account.

Can't see that Cake did anything abnormal here.

If the OP wanted to sell the extra Melodyne Essential license, I believe that's prohibited by the Cakewalk EULA.

You mean somebody AT Sweetwater agreed with you... probably to get you off the phone. As a licensed distributor (and a reputable one) they would understand how software upgrades work and would have knowledge of individual releases such as this one. If not, and they are advertising otherwise, then THEY are the negligent party here. Not Cakewalk.
