So much for the new forum software.....
At least half of the messages that I've tried to post doesn't post and I get this message....

I'm having to post this from my iPhone because it's the only browser which is allowing me to post to the forum. I don't believe it. Just 3 days into the new forum and it's broken already. This is why we can't have nice things.

The problem I've experienced: Trying to open a thread opens the "All Forums" front page. It's thread dependant. Most open normally, some don't.

This will be my first attempt with posting on the new forum. First, I hope all the initial bugs are ironed out. Second, I am glad they got rid of the old software!

Hi Guys, We're still working out some of the performance kinks. The forum is getting hit quite heavily based on some SEO changes, resulting in some pretty heavy indexing by all of your favorite search engine bots. Things will improve :) -Ryan

As Ryan said, there are going to be issues and we are working on them. With so many people using it, there are bound to be issues we couldn't test for in our environment. The intent was to improve and the fact of the matter is that with any kind of change it's going to be hard to please everyone.

It's running pretty well for me now on IE9. I know it's only a few days in, but if performance is going to get even better (it's already better than before for me) then it really should be a heck of an improvement. I have yet to edit one post just so I can replace the text with "Duplicate courtesy of IE9".

Maybe I am just not seeing the setting to change it, but.... Everything in the forum is now HUGE. Font's are larger. line spacing is larger. There is now a ton of white space everywhere. The thread listings now show about 10 on a page where there used to be 25. Everything is bigger and really spread out. This is no good. Is there a setting somewhere - similar to the gmail display density settings (compact, cozy, comfortable) - that will allow me to tighten up everything on the screen?

It is all scalable. Doesn't your browser have the ability to shrink it down? If not, you may want to try a different browser.

That is strange. I have tried it on FF, IE, Chrome and Safari and haven't come across that. What browser are you using?

All is well here for me on IE. The only major issue I had was with that one thread that Mooch had posted regarding the sm7...which was fixed by a Baker. I couldn't see the thread...it kept on taking me back to the main forum each time I clicked it. Is this what I'm supposed to be seeing? https://www.dropbox.com/s/trxy81c5zv6j1km/SonarForumView.JPG -Danny

Fine on various versions of Firefox here as well as Safari on IOS... I found it too large as well, but the zoom function solved a bit of that... My only other immediate "dislike" is the large wasted spaces on left/right making everything take too much vertical space... On IOS it's fine, the data/images reach from the screen's left to right edges... But it doesn't have the GoToTop button... Is that why so much space is wasted on the regular forum version? Tough trade-off... You might want to think about that some more... Thanks for working to make the forum such a good experience... software aside! Keni

It has been the exact opposite for me. The new forum works great, the old forum would have to recover the webpage after a no response when posting and I had a 50/50 chance of my post actually making it. So while there is a little getting use to the look and where things are, I personally feel the new forum is stellar.

Works well for me... my only criticism is that scanning through a thread quickly it can be difficult to pick out what text is someone's post and what text is someone's signature block; it's all a little too similarly formatted, and things aren't clearly separated. I shouldn't have to really concentrate and focus on differentiating the two. I keep re-reading people's sigs, thinking it's the next poster's comments.

This seems like as good a thread as any to test things, as it's my first post since the software change. If you can't see this, let me know. ;-) NOTE: First and second attempt, I got the "unexpected error" message after a long delay. I'm using Firefox 22.0. Also, 3rd attempt. Hmm, this doesn't look good, especially since not being able to post makes it difficult, if not impossible, to report. Since the error says it was "logged", I suggest checking the logs. I see this from the "full version" posting window: Server Error in '/' Application. Runtime Error Description: An exception occurred while processing your request. Additionally, another exception occurred while executing the custom error page for the first exception. The request has been terminated.
Enjoy the time you've got, because it's all the time you get.
