So who actually likes X1?
I purchased X1 PE, and waiting on it's arrival tomorrow. I admit after reading through page after page of negative posts here I'm a bit nervous. I'm sure there are some positive posts, but I'm having trouble finding many. Are any of y'all happily using X1 without any major problems? Make me feel better!!!!!

I like 80% of it. I'm not currently using X1 for "real" projects, just testing it out, kicking the tires, that sort of thing. Does that help?

I'm frustrated with the bugs like everyone else but hopefully the next update should take care of the major ones that affect my workflow the most. Until then I'm wrapping up a new cd using X1 exclusively & it's working out pretty well considering.

I can't wait for X1b! I love Sonar because of the 64-bit mix engine and throughput, and the processors: it's an excellent DAW. The Pro Channel is an awesome treat for those who don't have Waves or Duende , and the Drum and Vocal channels are likewise excellent, as is the VC-64. You're going to have a lot of fun.

what is the motivation for people who are not having issues to spend tiime on the forum? there are quite a few of us in the forums who are loving X1. but we dont have as much to say as those who are struggling and frustrated. my X1 is rock solid on my laptop and on my desktop. i use it in a small pro studio, and also where i teach during the day. if i had encountered problems, i would have just continued to use 8.5 which is still installed on both machines. i have encountered the normal amount of bugs for a new release- nothing out of the ordinary. also, i have a few feature requests. but the pros outweigh the cons significantly. i am impressed by the prochannel, i prefer the new unified preferences. the new plugins and content are great. i love the browser and screensets. but most of all, i appreciate the stability. since december i have had only one crash. nothing sucks more than a crash when clients are in the studio. dont be scared, be excited! and make sure you learn whats new and different before you assume something is broken. we'll be here if u need us.

I really like it but your PC specs will determine your experience. There are some bugs which everyone is looking forward to going away. I really like the automation editing changes. Workflow is excellent. ProChannel is amazing but needs some development. You only get one EQ per channel so if you are looking to EQ before and after reverbs or compressors, you have to use the fx bin or by routing to another channel.

Well, I like it. I haven't stressed it yet; I'm still learning how to find things, but the more I learn, the better it seems. My system is just a little over the minimum spec, but it's been completely stable.

BlixYZ my X1 is rock solid on my laptop and on my desktop. i use it in a small pro studio, and also where i teach during the day. if i had encountered problems, i would have just continued to use 8.5 which is still installed on both machines. So you show your students how to use Audio Snap, V-Vocal, Create Loop Clips, adjust beat value's in Snap To Grid, bounce a mono track with a stereo plug-in in the FX Bin to a stereo wav, use the PX 64 Percussion Strip, acoustic snare samples in Session Drummer 3, lasso clips, use Sonitus Delay plugin, use Pro Channel, all in X1? Wow! That is impressive! @ Wineshop ... the things I just mentioned above are broken in X1 and X1a, and there's more I haven't mentioned. Some of them are going to be fixed when the X1b patch comes out, and some I've been told will "hopefully be addressed in a future release" which didn't settle too well with me being I already paid for this release and would really like this one to work. :) So there you have it. Enter at own risk, be aware there's a lot broken, if you're someone like me who relies 100% on X1 and all the goodies that come with the Producer Edition, you're gonna be SOL on some things unless you're willing to keep upgrading. If you just want to use X1 in it's basic form without snap to grid and none of the major plug-in's that were sold with it, then you'll be fine.

I'm like stickman. I like the new features X1 offers, but it hasn't been stable enough for me to use for real. I'm still using 8.5 which is rock-solid by comparison. Hopefully when the X1b fix is released the situation will turn around. I have noticed that X1 seems more stable when working with projects that were created in X1 and not some earler version of SONAR like Producer 8.5.

If I read your post correctly you already purchased X1 and you want current users to make you feel better about your decision? Why don't you tell us what you think about X1 when you get it installed? Then you can add to the discussion. There's simply too many users here with too any different experiences to make you feel better, but I'm sure you know that. Would a couple of posts about the horrors of X1 in this thread cause you not to install it and find out for yourself? Or a few posts about the wonders, then make your decision to install any easier? Sounds like you made your decision. Jump in - the water's fine. (But please don't say you're in the middle of an album and you thought you'd try and finish it in X1 - that would not be smart, no matter how stable (or not) a new release might be)

I like X1, but I also had SONAR VS (which it looks alot like). If you are an old SONAR hand, there is a lot of new places for things. Most of them make sense, but it is different. You should approach it as a different program, not as an upgrade to SONAR. Many things are done differently, conceptionally, which have caused all kinds of operator errors. So even if you grok X1, you have to learn where everything is. I haven't had any more crashes than 8.5, which was very stable, tho more engine stops. But there are issues, as have been pointed out above and all over the place here. Some you may find crippling. I am using it at home so when X1b comes out I can hop right on it professionally. Hopefully, most of the limiting bugs will be worked out. @

It's taking fine care of my business ... I liked it once I got to know my way around the program. There's a lot to like, and I especially like the ProChannel when I'm mixing down. It's made it quicker to wrestle my way through the mixing process. I don't use the saturation part much, but I find myself using the eq and compressor quite a bit. They're clean and easy to use, even for minor tweaking.

I love it! And i can trust it enough to use it in my professional life as well. The new work flow, new tools, pro channel, multidock and the new track inspector really does it for me. The bugs are there of course, and some design niggles, but other than that, this is my favorite Sonar of all time. I absolutely love it!

I'm enjoying X1. Sure, it has a few niggles (which should be addressed in X1b) but show me a piece of software that doesn't. It's a complex, feature-packed app and some of the programming logic is bound to go astray somewhere along the line. For me it performs really well but as has been said, this depends very much on your PC spec and configuration. My only real gripe is the Console view which I loved on 8.5 and previous versions, but now it looks plain and uninspiring, and some functionality has disappeared. Again, X1b should deal with this. Add a good control surface and X1 really rocks!

From what I got to see of it, I liked it. But, since you asked, I say that if what you have now works, stick with that until the x1b release comes out. Meaning, don't even install X1 until the third patch is available, which should be soon. It is, after all, March now, that release is just around the corner. My experience was that X1 crashed, alot, and screwed up all previous versions of Sonar on my system. It was a real pain in the butt to fix them. Lots of help on this forum in getting that done, but still, days wasted. X1 is the future, at some point in the future. Right now, it's great if you're lucky (some folks are using it with great success) and the plague if you're not. So, are you feeling lucky?
