Thank you, Freddy!  :)

Thanks, Kev!  :)

Thanks so much, Lance.  I'm glad it's pretty enough to warrant a serious critique. :)  I just uploaded a new mix we've been working on for a couple days.  Hopefully the space and volume issues have been addressed.  Well, hopefully, all the issues have been addressed, but I know better than to assume that.  lol.  Thanks again!

I liked the chord progressions and overall feel.  Very dramatic at certain points and generally a very positive vibe.  Nice tempo.  Acoustic guitar / piano is a great combination.

Well, I'd say you got your muse back, Janet.  Lovely composition, and beautifully played by both.

If a picture paints a thousand words, then your fingers paint a billion. Started off sounding like"If" but then it changed up and blossomed into some thing even more lovely. The two of you sound good together.

Janet - Ivory synth?  what's that?  I don't hear a synth unless that hiss is the synth?

there's a hiss in this version I don't remember hearing before and it's pumping with the compressor, or ducking with the guitar even.

There are 5 synth 'layers' in Ivory, besides the several piano sounds.  I've used them a few times before.  This time I just added it to the piano track, which isn't the absolute best way to use it, but we felt it filled out the sound a bit.  Maybe it's the bass that's bad?   I can't even get it to play for me now in SC, so I can't check it out.

I can't play it again today from work soundclick is blocked here.  but I don't think it was with the bass, but it might have been with the piano and the compression would have made it louder when the piano wasn't playing if it were even across the whole piano track, so maybe it was the "synth layer" you added that caused it.  I'll try to listen again tonight at home and maybe compare the previous versions you've sent me and see if I can hear a better description of what it is I'm hearing now.

Very nice composition.

My thoughts as I listened..... (listening again as I write)

Piano sounds good as always.
Guitar sounds good too.
Levels between the two seemed pretty constant.... not something I would do for the whole song.

I think the two clash in numerous places... a case of both being very busy at the same time.
I also noticed some timing issues in a few places, not sure what was to blame. It could have been one was playing syncopated and the other was straight.

I loved the hesitation and lagging on the acoustic when it first came in! Superb...tasteful.... excellent!

I would have used a more shared approach..... let one instrument take the spotlight at a time....as opposed to both "soloing" all the way through.

There also appeared to be a slight "loss of direction" in a few places. Nice recoveries....

All in all, you have a beautiful song there that, with a bit of creativity, editing, judicious use of envelopes, fixing the clashes, and a few other minor tweeks, could easily be a stellar production.

Listening again ...take 3....

Yeah, I like it.

Thanks, Herb. You've got some very valid and correct points there.  I may go back and work on this sometime and I will certainly keep those things in mind.  Glad you liked it.

Thanks, Mark!

Janet,

Bear with me as I have not read any of the comments.

The performances were stellar.

I might suggest that at times you pull back one of the instruments and other time do the opposite. The piano and guitar are fighting to be heard most of the time (IMO).

It is a beautiful composition.

Janet/Rik,
No crits from this listener.  Just a beautiful piece with a lot of good movement and texture to it.  The mix sounded great on my system and I enjoyed hearing two good forum talents collab on such a nice song.  Nice job!

Thank you Tony. This was fun to do and I appreciate being able to work with Rik.

Hi All , thanks for listening and valid comments. This is the first piece Janet and I played together so we´re in the process of finding out how things work best. We already have a second piece up if you fancy a listen.

Greg, I'm getting all confused...I think I answered you on the other song.  lol Anyway, thank you!

Good point, Ed.  I tried to address that, but probably need to keep working on it.  Thank you for the kind comments!

Thank you, Tom!

Maybe after 10 more, it will be easier, eh, Rik?  :)

Thank you, Tim.

Thanks, Elix.  Yes, I love that sound too.  Makes me think of swimming in chocolate when it's tweaked right.  :)

Exqusite and lovely piano hall!
Guitar also is exquiste and sweet.

Artsy and daring; great divergence here.

Well done, Janet. Rik's guitar plays beautifully off your piano. Lovely and lyrical with just a hint of melancholy, or perhaps that's just the ear of the beholder. Good job.

This was very sweet guys. The piano is wondrous. The guitar was nice too, but i thought if it were to break for a minute or two and just let the piano take over, that would have been better.
Nothing against the guitar at all, but i just wanted to hear the piano on it's own for a little while.

Great work
Mark.

Absolutely beautiful tune, Janet!  My ears are still bleeding from listening to Mark's metal song, so I may need to relisten a few times over (or maybe that's just the excuse I'm using!)  .  Excellent guitar work, Rik!

I'm glad you were able to overcome a bit of your music writer's block and write this song.  Sometimes the best songs come after a long period of not able to write anything to save your life!  I been there done that.  Finally after a year of beating my head against the wall I wrote a song recently too!

As always, your piano work never ceases to amaze me!  I wish I had half your ability!
