Hey Cakewalkers,

For my 2 cents worth I'd like to see a metronome where you can adjust the sound of the fourth beat in the bar and not the first. This is fundamental, and I always find it highly off-putting when you can only adjust the first beat. Please please please sort this out. Because of this very simple mistake I'm beginning to think that you don't always test your new software with real bands and overlook these important areas because your trying to find the next big breakthrough, which quite frankly isn't really that important.

BETTER VIDEO SUPPORT!!!!!

Sonar's video support is terrible when compared to the other DAWs on the market. Also the video workflow is very clumsy and cluttered. This is, in my view, the largest thing holding Sonar back for video-audio production houses. Other than that- it is a powerhouse program!

Here's what i'd like to see in SONAR 8:


-Improved ACT MIDI Controller plug-in

First let me say that this plug-in is very stable for me!

Please make it so that when we save a preset we can choose where to save it on our hard drive, and make it a format so users with the same MIDI controller can share the presets.
Also, how about making this plug-in so that we can set up at least 16 tracks with 1 instance of the plug-in connected! General MIDI has 16 tracks.

The button setup manner is miserable! If one has a line of 8 buttons to assign to track arm, for instance, all of the buttons will only operate the same function on the same track. That leaves one miserable, or am I missing something? When I assign the Arm track function to each of these 8 buttons, I'm looking to have each button control a separate track! The manner of doing this with the Cakewalk Generic controller is nice. One checks the radio button for a parameter, selects Arm Track for that parameter, select the configure strip number, and that button is assigned to that configure strip number or track. This is great!!! It makes it easy for each button assigned to track arm to control track arm for separate tracks! Can Cakewalk make this manner of assigning controls available with the ACT MIDI Controller Plug-In?!!!! Or at least make this end result simple in the ACT plug-in. or make some other plug in that can have all the features in this request?

I sure hope Cakewalk reads this. Implementing these features will make things a lot easier and convinient for us trying to setup our MIDI controllers.

OK I've learned how to import/export presets, so no need for improvement there. It's already easy enough, but it will help if finding out how to do this is written in an easy to find location in the SONAR Help file.

OK, I see we can set up 32 tracks using the Four Banks and an extra assignable button or two to assign to the previous/next bank function, and 64 tracks if we use the Shift Modifier. It's workable, but kinda hard to keep track of what bank one is in. I'm aware of the Controller/Surface toolbar and that it has a visual indicator that is suppose to refect what bank one is in, but it often doesnt do this, in my experience. I dont know if it's a bug or what? This feature can be improved!

I want to be able to export/import projects/tracks.

Example:
I have four tracks of audio and midi in a big project that I want to use in another project.

I select them and choose to export as "import file."

I then open a project and select import file, navigate and select the import file.

The four tracks with ALL settings, routings, busses, effects, instruments,... are imported.

Use Track Templates. It does what you want.

More extensive wave editor! Make Sound Forge and the like obsolete!!! Can't be that hard to do

Many things are quite easy and time-savers.
I wish a better organized insert place to rack plugins on each track with dedicated buttons to bypass and on/off as well..
Many times I need to bypass a single plugin in a chain of couples but when right click on the mouse and use bypass function the whole insert is set to bypass. So the only way is to open the plugin and bypass it. What a time consumming...

For Sonar 9 (or an update on 8) I'd like to see:

Ability to change how beats are divided up on the grid in the piano roll as well as a metronome that is configurable for triple time, i.e beat 1 and 4 accented in 6/8 and those same beats different from the other grid lines in the piano roll. I do a lot of sequencing that needs to be exported to notation software and it would be very helpful to have this visual aid in the piano roll corresponding to the musical feeling. Also, I sometimes get sent midi sequences for notation in the wrong time signatures (i.e 4/4 even though the actual time is 12/8), and I need to be able to change the time signature without Sonar changing the tempo and also be able to let Sonar stretch the time map with the midi so that tempo changes fall at the right places musically after changing time signature.

A separate tempo scale command would be great, too. Fit to Time just doesn't always cut it.

Can we have that please? It isn't too much to ask now is it:-)

You can turn off the status bar in the globle options if that's what you mean.

Thanks, but no. There are little flashes where the CPU meter spazzes out. I read under a different post that I wasn't the only one where this was happening.
