I have to agree with Blogman 1000% I am extremely disappointed thus far with X1, I wished I would have saved my $99. I am glad that I did not uninstall 8.5.3 it is still rock solid.  What I was hoping to take advantage with X1 are the Mastering tools and the Pro channel, I can't get that far because now all of my Plugins are screwed up, I can't find my templates for Perfect Space for example, I have re-run the scan for VST plugins but everything is moved.  I don't like the workflow as much as people have raved about in X1, it is a bit confusing to me and Sonar 8.5.3 works much better.  I am not giving up on X1 because I paid for it but I am not pleased thus far, I really don't get why software companies like Cakewalk and Microsoft make their better applications so they think so freakin different from what has been working so well?  Fustrated as we speak because I have a deadline for a track to  be finished and I am still trying to figure out where the heck everything is.

Blogman

8.53 is STILL WAY more solid and reliable and less buggy than X1 by FAR!!! X1 is SO buggy, they've abandond it all together and are forcing customers to pay for a completely different version just to HOPEFULLY get back some of the features and dependebility that were not there during the 1st two patches (a and b) or were broken by the last patch (d). I recommended and set up multiple Sonar 8.53 Studios, and even earlier versiions. (I've been using since at least version 2) I officially Stopped recommending Sonar as of X1. Complete unreliability and full of functions that don't work as they are boasted to. Customer service seems to be at the BOTTOM of Cakewalks priorities.

Once you go X, you'll never go 8 or lower.

I am furious right now I have been working in a project in 8.5.3 and I have XlD installed and out of the blue I started getting this message The program can't start because mpgvout.dll is missing. Since I got that message things have started dying slowly, I have been working a big project and Session drummer 2 starts to leave out beats because I am looping it WTH. So I have to stop and start the loop to make sure everything plays. I kept working and eventually it crashed, started it back up and now I can't do simple things like past a clip in the proper space What The Hell is going on, I went to see if I can open the project in X1 and now I can't find it. Please don't tell me I have to reload my system again

It's kind of like, would you prefer hanging with an old gent that has wisdom or with some young punk that thinks he has all the answers.

Stop shouting.

And best of luck asking for your money back - it won't happen.

So, to try and help with your problem, what installation sequence did you use for X1?

This is important and we need a detailed answer

Sorry for yelling but at that time I thought my project was not in position to be completed. I followed the instructions, downloaded the original file, followed by the updates and for the record X1 is not giving me a problem it is 8.5.3 I wanted to use 8.5.3 for the basic recording and use X1 for the final mix. X1 to me is not as easy to use for instance something simple like click in a spot in the time line, X1 never puts me where I want to go but in 8.5.3 when I get close it just knows where to go which makes copying and pasting easier. I have pressure on my right now because I am under a dead line, I am wondering if I should uninstall 8.5 and reinstall it? It works but it is very weird now, like when i press record button nothing will happen for like 3 seconds and then the track will start playing but it should recording not playing.

I stand corrected it is happening in both X1 and Sonar message states"Transport::createUIWorker:Bithbridge.exe The program can't start because mpvgout.dll is missing reinstall" I say ok and the application loads and opens I think I have no choice but to uninstall both and reinstall
