Nah, you need to go 12 core

Sir Les
If anyone is going to overclock the cpu and other things...Be mindful to make sure you cool things beyond reason!

Just saying...a 8 core cpu is a bit of change!...feeding a cow too much because heat issues toasted it, due to overclocking...Is stupidly done deeds!

Jonesy, if you would like to pony up the difference in price between 8 and 12 cores....

And Dad, I promise not to burn up the computer. If I return it with a full tank, may I borrow the keys again?

Seriously, I had ADK build my last two computers and there was no problem whatsoever with the OC'ing. If/when they build my next machine, I'm sure it will be fine. It's been around, I think, 5 years now running at 4.5 gHz.

Seriously, what happens if your fan gets clogged up, and heat mounts during a session , after five years of build up?....Yah Cooling is a key factor...Seriously.

xeon and  or desktop cpu's...8 core is gonna cost about 1g note or more

12 core:

Is that pony enough?

And son, I do not work for money to pay bad employment habits.....eh, just saying?...5 years is about as long as most limitation on gear is lasting for in terms of warranty on PC parts ....If it goes south with a toating cheer of diliberate sabotage...no RMA for you!...lol
And if anything dies because of overclocking heating issues and bad setup, or such software that cannot handle over clocking...Crashes occur......Could nul and void any warranty....if one reads the fine print in that....seriously.

And when one builds up a system...on their own, and puts in the time and efforts to get it working....Does one need to overclock for a few seconds faster renders?...using 12 or 8 cores?...and water cooling is not the safest thing to do...So, I think liquid Nitrogen gets higher Ghz than 4.5 whimping you proclaim....seriously, if you are gona overclock....Then do it right!

And putting text on internet does not need more than four cores....and at stock...it will do it just fine for those who do...so why do you need to do it?....Is it really that much gain?....nope!...and leave it unattended for a bit, and that is when the Jin usually reck havoc......AMD 8 core cpu's get freaking hot just at stock out of the box...no fan or cooling working...no cpu in minutes!..now over clock that by x 2, and you better watch the temps always....or it can get seriously damaged or flawed...crashing systems depending on what is being done can ruin hardware!

So I do not do it..(overclocking).with 8 cores, or any cores...and I turn off speed stepping and such...because here that stuff only causes cpu issues for me...which can cause noise on my audio setup....again...I do not like taking out clicks and pops, if I do not have em made by that Bios Process.....that did cause em, once upon a time.

So is the Tip good....Yes, best be safe, than sorry!...from my experience just with speed stepping bios settings.

Cheers!
