Re:Sonar X1 Color Scheme: work in progress

Bristol_Jonesey ramscapri don4777 riojazz In Windows 7, I put it here: C:\Users\myname\AppData\Roaming\Cakewalk\SONAR X1 Producer\ and it worked. How about for those using Windows XP. I searched the entire drive and found no files with a .clr extension. I tried creating a new color scheme and svaing it from within the dialog box and it didn't appear to result in the creation of a file with a .clr extension. The only place I can find that this information is stored is in the Registry. Is there someplace that X1 will look for the 'clr files in XP? Thanks, Don How to locate and open the registry ? Where does it appear under the root C: drive ? If you are not familiar with editing registry entries I advise to to proceed with extreme caution. You could quite easily make your machine totally unbootable so BE WARNED You access it by typing in regedit in the search box. MAKE SURE THE FIRST THING YOU DO IS TO EXPORT YOUR CURRENT REGISTRY Please, make sure you do some research on regedit before you start messing around with it Thanks Bristol_Jonesey. Also, for the warning. I agree. As such, I am quite wary of messing with system files and I am not a software programmer anyway. So, surely, I dont intend to do anything unless I am absolutely clear about the right method and the purpose. Now that leads me to ask the following : Where within this registry database would the settings for the colour schemes be ? How to edit them ? What are the purposes that can be solved with regards to the colour scheme ? Do we need to actually copy a new .clr file into this database for it to work within Sonar X1 ? Is an export and re-import of a .clr file within the colours pallete under preferences necessary for the changes to take effect ? Which is the location where the custom .clr files created by the user have to be saved so that Sonar X1 (or windows registry maybe) recognizes and applies it ? As I cant get to change the console and track strip background colours, I had this related question within another post : http://forum.cakewalk.com/fb.ashx?m=2602698 Any help will be great and appreciated. And sorry for so many questions on this colour scheme thing. I just had one to start with, but now I see that many things seem to be related to this. Thanks.

I also imported your color scheme, it looks very nice !! I too wish I could do more with colors. Ya if Sonar X1 looked a little more like Logic or Pro Tools, I'd be happier.

Ok so I am being more than a little thick here..... When I click the link in post 1 all I get is a txt doc. How do I get rid of the .txt to allow it to say just clr? If I try save as it still saves as a txt doc. I know this is simple, and that's just how I feel :-) Help, please :-)

Save the file on your desktop. In Windows Explorer, locate the file and manually remove the .txt from the extension (or just choose 'rename') In Sonar, choose Import Color scheme and point to the .clr file

Thanks very much. I couldnt rename the file as the file extension wasnt showing. I had to go into the File and folder options and deslected hide known file extensions first. I didn't know abou Import Colour schemes, so thanks for that.

Is it known that the color scheme file is localized? To import an english .clr in an german Sonar you have have to replace the english terms with its german equivalents. Weired - I think. LotharR
