Yeah, you only need a 400mb speed fire connection. I was wondering why you don't use the MIDI port on the MOTU? instead of the MIDISport? I guess you have lots of midi gear to hook-up.

rcassent All, i just finished a 2 hour support with Dell, nothing good to report, 1st of all, my firewire card has two ports but neither are 800Mbits/s, it is 400. the tech is going to try and send a replacement that runs at 800mbs with Texas instrument chip set. dont know if that will help. we were unable to pull both video cards as the bios based video card did not work and we could not get it to work, another story for anther thread. all PCI slots are diffrent on this machine so i can not even juggle card in slots. the only slots i can juggle are the two video slots. i am gonna post my wininfo in another message as soon as i do some more testing. so even with one video card out and my usb card pulled, audio dropped out after 15 minutes using the motu 828mk3 for audio and the midisport 8x8 for midi. i use the same 50 track audio file with 20 plus midi track, the track has a total of 144 tracks posted and is 2.86 file. using 1/16 if the processing power i using little of my 16 gig of RAM. i am ready Startekh, the gloves are off after opening up the case on the dell PC! danotehr uncessuful day and this means 1 week and still not working I just realized you may be having an audio problem that I had noticed when I was using my midisport 8x8. MOTU uses a unified driver that works for both the midi product line and the audio product line. I seem to recall my midisport driver screwing up my MOTU 828 MKII under Windows 7 even though it seemed counter-intuitive why that should even happen since I was not using any midi functions on my 828. When I got rid of the midisport driver the problems went away. I wish I could be more specific but it was a while ago. Just something that may be worth checking out. I don't use the midisport anymore. Ken

A couple more questions, are your graphics card and/or firewire controller sharing and IRQ assignment with anything. You can see from "system information" hardware resources section. I'm mostly wondering what the firewire controller may be sharing with?

I'm with inaheartbeat about his concerns with the midisport driver. As I posted earlier just about any issue I had with Sonar on my old system turned out to be something to do with the MIDIsport driver. In fairness though, this new system has had no issues so it may be mobo specific.

It was not a motherboard issue because the problem was that MOTU crammed one driver with functionality for all its midi/audio products including the legacy ones and the midisport driver reacted very badly to that. I'll help if I can but I don't have a MOTU unit. I do however have a MIDIsport 4x4 and although MIDI and it shouldn't cause problems, experiences with my old system taught me that it does not play well with Win 7 x64 and did cause me problems. Having said that my new system, same OS x64 and set up has no issues. Old system ASUS mobo new one gigabyte which may or may not be relevant.

Are you getting dropouts at all latency settings? Which latency settings have you tried, like 64, 96, 192 and 128? Have you tried the higher ones, like 256, 512, 1024? I would be interestedin seeing the IRQ sharing, especially for graphic card/s, firewire controller, and USB controllers.
