You can see from "system information" hardware resources section. That will free up some IRQ slots and when you restart, Windows will reassign some things, and it may result in some important devices being assigned alone or with something that wont really be problem. I agree with you on the things sharing IRQ 18, that's not good. That's the graphics card, MOTU, and a hard drive all on the same IRQ. That may very likely be the source of the drop out problem. Just make 100% sure by trawling through the mobo manual that it isn't labelled something obscure. #109

He needs to try to get those 3 things reassigned so those 3 are not on the same IRQ assignment. Using one graphics card will help. And as suggected earlier, there has to be a way to disable the onboard sound in the BIOS (search the motherboard manual,) disabling that will also help get IRQ assignments re-assigned. All devices readdress there-selves and the audio ran for one hour. i powered down the machine , disconnected everything, put the machine back in place , reconnected everything and then the drops out started again. almost like when the the fire-wire and usb port were disconnected, they were re-addresses and are being stepped on again by video adapter dell is running some diagnostics - we have had 5 drops outs in the last hour. we are going to try your TI fire wire card shortly.
