Funny how a link to song about VSTs can get everyone's knickers in a twist.

I apologize to all for the bulls----t The more I think about it, the more I realize I've nothing that requires an apology.
(but not for the OP)

Did I miss something?

In summary....

Someone signed in as someone else to post yet another tiresome plug to something in the songs forum, someone else objected to it, then the person who was pretending to be someone else jumped to the defence of the person that person was pretending to be. When it got a bit antsy, one of his mates jumped in and said something inane for reasons best known to himself. Meanwhile, the OP continues to be referred to in the third person by the person pretending not to be the OP. HTH

I think I got it..?

No you need to apologize to me and everyone on that thread. You needlessly interfered as if you are some sort of forum police. You make a habit of it and it needs to stop.

Lately, it seems everyone on the planet is looking for an apology.

What's so difficult about apologizing?

I do it all the time.

Let me start the ball rolling:
I apologize to everyone on this thread for my participation and any future participation in any thread I'm ever involved in.

Bapu: I think your mix was fine but I thought the strings sounded weak; another preset or a tweak of the preset you used is in order; and please accept my apology for that remark, sir.

I think John's complaint isn't that someone tampered with his post; That is an incorrect description of what occurred, rather, someone quoted his post then edited that quote so it became a misquote.

The original post was not tampered with at all and remains as originally written. Posts can only be edited by the original poster or a forum moderator.

I concur as well and I'm sorry John's quote got altered. This has happened to me on several occasions and it can be an extremely frustrating experience for the person who got misquoted, I don't care how trivial people think this might be, it's certainly not humour (or good humour) IMHO.

For once, I find myself in full agreement with John.

I am completely outraged and deeply offended that others' words are being deliberately misquoted.

It reminds me of the admirable opines of the late, great, John Lennon, whose sagacity led him to utter the immortal line: "If you're sick and tired of carrots, give peas a chance"

I'm not sure where you are coming from but I was held accountable by Bapu for not liking clicking on a link that took me to another link. If you did read the interchange between us it may dawn on you that he, Bapu, lurks around here finding fault with me in particular when ever he sees an opening. I just wonder why I am so important to him that I seem to be on his mind so often.  I have done him no harm or think about him yet here he is starting an argument over nothing. What really made it an issue was someone else deliberately misquoting me. That is not acceptable to me. And Bapu jumped on my objection to that.

Their we stand.

Re: Speaking of VSTs not working.... 2014/02/18 16:27:24 (permalink)
There have been some ongoing feuds between forum members - some for quite a long time.

No matter which forum these occur in, there should be no place in any of them for that sort of thing.

I do think it is a bit over the line for someone to alter someone's quote content, and continue to attribute that quote to the person, without any acknowledgement that this was done - it is something that should not take place, regardless of the intent - playful or otherwise.

In any case - I think this particular forum needs to be a place where issues are posted and discussed, with the intent of moving people forward on issue resolution, in as supportive a manner as possible.

Please folks, let's be respectful of each other, and keep the focus on the thread's intended purpose.

John, I would suggest if what you perceive as personal attacks continue, that you contact the admin folks and ask for some assistance.

Time for a big old nap for me - I just had to erase about 4 lines of '=' that I had typed whilst snoring away.

Re: Speaking of VSTs not working.... 2014/02/18 16:31:06 (permalink)
Oh John, now who's misquoting?

I couldn't care less who likes or dislikes clicking on link in a post of mine, but it "seemed" to you that it was a {paraphrased} redundant {/paraphrased} link, which I pointed out it was NOT.

But will you acknowledge that you misunderstood when asked to? No, you will not. That is what only mildly irks me.

{specifically ONLY highlighting your exact words} "And Bapu jumped on my objection to that. "

Feel free to quote a post in this thread where I stated that I took exception your belief that a quote should not be altered. (HINT: You will not find one)

See? This is where you chose to write your own history about someone else (something you "seem" to detest in others). I did NOT jump on you for your views on misquoting. I simply pointed out that if accuracy is what you wish for this forum I suggested you apologize for the inaccuracy/misunderstanding in your own post #2.

My OP was a link to a Songs Forum post (which contained a link to a Souncloud entry), not a link to another version of this thread.

I'll accurately quote your post #2 (even with the double "this") in case you forgot what I was taking exception to. Nothing more nothing less.

"May I ask why you are posting this when it seems to go to another version of this this thread?"

And John, you are wrong (again) about you being on my mind so often. About the only time you are on my radar is when I read a post from you. After that the buffer is truly flushed.
