absoultly awesome... Thats the way it should be something like the redrum in reason and in fruity loops... MINT!!!!!! so much easier,, CW is understanding 1 window instead of multi screens... I still think SD3 should be intergated in the ss2.. with the wave shown ,, not into that whole lookin at the icon of a drum, hihat ect.. also adding basic effects like in beatscape would be nice thats attached to the ss2.. for me to work faster loading samples into a lane on the main page of the ss2 with wave form access and efxs ..

The StepSeq2.0 has the ability to access any channel on any loaded instrument directly from each SS2 lane.

...wicked

It's called a DAW now, silly. No one plays instruments anymore.

Srsly, SS2.0 along with SD3.0 is very good news, but the devil is in the details.  I, for one, am hopefully excited but I need to see how the integration all comes together.  If we're using these new tools but still using the same Drum Map technology from days of yore I'll be very disappointed. That's always been the weak link in the whole shebang.

But, I'm not taking a wee-wee on it, so far the new items are very promising.  I never thought I'd see the "groove matrix-esque" stuff brought into SONAR.

Okay I really shouldn't expound but if you promise not to tell anyone...

The StepSeq2.0 has the ability to access any channel on any loaded instrument directly from each SS2 lane. This, in many cases, removes the need for the drum-map and makes accessing and experimenting with different sounds much quicker and easier by removing a layer of complexity (and the extra step involved).

There's more, but I'm going to leave it at that - I've already said too much....

Is each track in the new step sequencer able to control its own vst like
the step sequencer in FL studio?

http://www.cakewalk.com/sonarupgrade/sneak.asp

Looks like there are 12 tracks on it in the pic.
Is each track controlling its own vst?

Example

First track controlling sylenth1
second track controlling Superior Drummer ect ect

does each track in the step sequencer have its own piano roll?
This would make it like the fl step sequencer.

Twistedblues - can't tell about the specific screenshot, but what Brandon said clearly makes this a possibility.  It sounds excellent, just what I've been asking for actually.  Hopefully the pattern brush will work too - that'll make it a killer combo making it really easy to set up grooves and play around... with some decent soundsources a DIY Stylus RMX, potentially!

Just imagine - pattern brush, randomizing, swapping outputs to use all the sounds in your collection.... hmmm.....

It appears this is the case. Not that you couldn't do this before, but you would require multiple instances and multiple windows. This makes Step Sequencer almost "a sequencer within a sequencer".
