Gotta get your 11.0 system out of your closet too. The program sounds awesome and unmatched though. For those that already have a zillion drum programs...this will hit the ones with severe GAS and then i suspect taper off pretty quickly. Most will probably wait for the $99 upgrade deal down the road.

I have EZD2 and AD2. I would love to have this or BFD2. I would buy it for $99...so I'll have to remain content for awhile.

I think this will undoubtedly put them in the "King of the Hill" position as far as VST offerings. I wonder if this will cannibalize the EZ drummer program. Or...will folks still stick to EZ for the production ready sound and/or price of entry? As of now, I still float between AD2, EZ2 and SD3. I can see myself easing off the EZ2 a bit assuming all of the expansions will work with SD3.

Why do I want 230GB where much of that is devoted to 5, 7, and 11 mic positions that I will never use? and judging from the vids, it's not anything like a huge leap up in sound quality, is it? I did like the workflow enhancements. I use AD2 because it's butt easy to work in, but I don't think it sounds fantastic. BFD sounds fairly fantastic but the workflow I didn't dig at all. I had EZ Drummer for a spell but it's processing is pretty much baked in from the get go. I'm on the SD3 fence and listening for user comments, many thanks to the early adopters! cheers, -Tom

A lot of extra info on their FAQ page https://www.toontrack.com/faq/1311697-2/ But I don't see anything about: EZX compatibility. I was very disappointed with how they work in SD2. I wanted the EZX gui + the SD2 sound features. Does SD3 have feature parity with EZDrummer 2? I never could understand why their consumer product had better songwriting tools than SD2. EZplayer Pro, I think they included it with SD2 (I had bought it separately before I got SD2). Are they going to include it? Are they going to upgrade it? I think $209 is a bit high on the upgrade price scale. I'll wait for the sale on the upgrade.

Toontrack...always absurdly spendy with the upgrades. I'm sure they'll put a fuse on this one too, to force people to buy it before the upgrade deal goes away. Ugh.
Tangled roots perplex her ways. Focusrite Saffire Pro 24 DSP, Windows 10 x64, i7 5820k, Asrock X99 OC Formula, 16 GB Corsair DDR4, Asus STRIX GTX 970, SSD's for OS and samples, Akai MPK61, and myriad VST's.

Not a fan of the $209. but you are getting 6 new kits, so it's like SD3 with 3 new kits and a new SDX with 3 more. 230 GB of samples or 140 or so without the surround means an added expense for drive space. Maybe if I move some things around I can get 140 on a SSD. Hopefully discounters will give a little relief on the price. Figure $99 on the upgrade and $79 for the "included SDX". A little more than I wanted to spend but worth it I guess (Hope). They said there was some mallets and brushes or rods included and a pretty good size Electronic drums selection. So, maybe wont need to get the Roots Mallets ect SDX and any electronic which I wouldn't want to spend any money on if I can avoid it.

It's not just the upgrade cost. It's getting yet another drive to house the dang thing!! Looks like it's time to sell a bunch of stuff, get Jim to build me a new DAW that's even more hot**** fast with even more Terabytes of drive space and totally rethink my whole system. Dern!

I'm all over Superior Drummer 3. I will be purchasing it. Currently I use EZ Drummer 2 to write patterns and try out different kits. However, I use Superior Drummer 2 as the engine when all is decided. SD 2 offers more flexibility when using EZ Drummer 2 kits. I would love to do what I do with SD 3. A time saver. That said, sometimes I end up using an Addictive Drums 2 kit. Whatever kit's sound is best for the tune. All great products for a drum lover like me.

Some would also pay $200 not to have to deal with a drummer as well!
