And for those who don't have it, you get 8000 midi drum patterns with it, which is just about every basic pattern. It's Bargainsville, Arizona.

Hey Olpal and Handsomeone. Thanks for the heads-up! I actually bought BFD eco. But I think it's the Toontrack expansion paks and a cheap upgrade path to Superior Drummer that I really want. This is it! Thanks again!

Hey Guys, Thanks again ditto for the heads up. This thing got serious plus and minuses. Minus is online activation. Company goes down you're screwed. Next minus is a limited set of drums. Got a Cocktail set and another set with a few variations. Big minus is the lack of control over the individual drum. No effects, no tuning (BIG ONE), no comp, no damp, no effects, not much of anything beyond pan and volume. Plus side is the mic ambiance covers a lot of ground. Rim shots are good. Velocity layers are credible. Overall sound of the kit provided is good. Best thing in this is the librarian feature, especially if you have a better drum box somewhere else. Some have installed who know what programs with endless midi loops. They claim that EZDrummer is not an LE version in Superior. Lied point blank, it's less than a Superior LE. They claim making loops in minutes instead of hours. This is straight. Personal pref only, but I would have not gone for the thing if the librarian function were not so elegant. I got a ton of midi drum loops that are useless because they are so hard to audition. Toss them into EZDrummer and you can quickly audition each loop, drag and drop it into Cake piece by piece. Fast and furious. Follows the GM layout so the created composites can then be played in Steve Slate, Jamstix...drum boxes with a wider set of sounds. Good investment from the book keeping side. John

I have ezDrummer. Have had it since it came out. And I have a lot of EX packs too. But I am going to jump on the BFD thing. I read about that thing (BFD Eco) and if it performs anywhere close to ezDrummer, it will be a win win for me!! Accually from things I have heard about BFD on this forum, I really expect it to perform just as well as ezDrummer.

The kit that comes with EZDrummer will work with a surprising number of genres and styles...honest. I've got both EZD and ECO and if I had to have only one it would definitely be EZD.

yorolpal, that's good to hear. I have never been disappointed with ezd. Never. But once I got into Session Drummer 3 (which is not that bad at all) I thought I would give the BFD a try. But I'd like to get it for the $15 price that I am hearing about!! I'm cheap!!

Yes I also would like the Americana EXP also! I also would do like yorolpal says and if you don't have ezDrummer, don't miss this chance to pick it up at this price. As John was saying, it has some limitations over more complex programs. But for what it does, it can't be beat!! I forgot to say that in my earlier posts.

JohnKenn No effects, no tuning (BIG ONE), no comp, no damp, no effects, not much of anything beyond pan and volume. You can of course set up seperate outputs and use any VST effect on any drum. EZX can be used in Superior drummer, so if you upgrade eventually you will be able to use all superiors effects and features to bring new life to your EZX.

Just to pick up on some points here (from John in particular) I understand the issues around online activation and FXpansion have the same method too. I don't see either fxpansion or Toontrack going out of business for a while but these things have happened before. Anyone remember livesynth? Both Eco and EZdrummer have small sets which is why they are (lite) versions. They are intended for people who have less capable DAW's. Addictive drums is the same but has no big brother to upgrade to and is, in my opinion very over priced compared with it's peers. When it comes to control (or lack of) then BFD Eco is the winner by a country mile over EZdrummer. It has some seriously good effects (including channel and bus compressors) that are tailored for drums as well as tuning, dampening, velocity to amp, global and individual dynamic control, flip ambience, humanize control, bleed control, and some others that you'll have to discover for yourself :) Plus side is the mic ambiance covers a lot of ground. Rim shots are good. Velocity layers are credible. Overall sound of the kit provided is good. In my view the overall sound of Eco is far better than EZdrummer. The ambience is warm and it breaths like, well like a room with great ambience. If there's one area that EZdrummer might be better is that I think it probably has more midi loops than Eco (Eco has 1.500) I'm not sure how many more and I doubt that it's that many. For me this is meaningless as I shun the idea of using loops and prefer to create my own drum patterns. I just don't understand why people are still even considering EZdrummer over BFD Eco when, even at twice the price Eco is by far the better product. I don't mean to be too harsh on EZdrummer and it is what it is but it has absolutely NOTHING! over Eco and Eco is still cheaper, (especially while sweetwater are offering the $14 discount Yorolpal, I just don't get it, why would you "definitely" choose EZD over Eco. Can you tell me why you think it's better? I mean feature by feature comparison and sound quality. Steve

If by performance you mean, does it crash and how does it perform in a 64 bit environment with bitbridge, then I have had no issues with Eco at all. Although I should point out that I also own BFD 2 and so don't use Eco too often. If by performance you mean sound, capability, control and features then you certainly won't be disappointed and I consider the overall sound to be far superior (naff pun intended) to anything I've heard from Toontrack . And as for control EZdrummer comes nowhere near to Eco. Steve

Good question Bapu, It was posted on here in another thread that you could use a code which I guess is on the page at some point when you commit to purchase and so might not be visable here, ( http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/BFDeco) Actually I think you have to register or open an accout with sweetwater to take advantage of the discount. I got caught out buying something like that once and paid the full price as I completely missed the coupon. Such is life :) Steve

Twaddle, Your experience is exactly why I visit (the renowned domain of myolpal) the software forum daily to search (or add to) the list of deals. I rarely buy at regular/street price anymore. So like many here, I'm waiting on a two for one sale where I can get Toontrack's Ameircana and the new Metal kit (newer than metal heads) for EzDrummer and the roots kits for Superior. I would hope they would be on sale around June 2012.

I read your post the first time, got completely excited about a BFD upgrade for $50 and went to their site (even though I bought BFD Eco last year when it was on sale for $99)! Then I went back and re-read your post! Awww. As far as the the debate over ezDrummer or BFD Eco, they sound very different to my ears and both are very good products, well worth buying. BFD Eco kits lack a snare with a ring to it while ezDrummer has a snare with a nice ring. At 29 bucks each, unless you're really broke, it's a no-brainer to pick up both, imo. If you don't, come January, when both sales are over and each product is selling for more than 3x that amount once again, you'll likely be kicking yourself. This is an incredible time to buy a drum VST. I bought both (I started with ezDrummer and upgraded to Superior Drummer) at more than 3x than the current deals, however, I'm still very happy to see these libraries at such affordable prices so that more people can enjoy them. That's great, imo. Consequently, I have no remorse for paying more, as I'm happy to support the devs and whether it's ToonTrack or fxPansion and I hope both do very, very well. These are top notch drum VSTs/developers and believe it's impossible to make a bad choice at these prices. - Peter

OK, now I am confusedI have several questions. Is BFD ECO 15+ bucks at Audiomidi? Is there a coupon, if so where is it? (I will check this thread again and sign in at AM to see if a code is offered). I probably don't need both ECO and EZD, I have EZD lite and am leaning toward SW and EZD but really I want the one that is easiest to use. I am not really interested in which one has the most tweaks because I don't want to do a bunch of drum tweaking. If I record something good enough to need better drums I will get a real drummer to help me out... so I want easiest, less potential hiccups and the least learning curve. Still, if I can get ECO for 15 bucks and EZD for 29 bucks, I will get both... that, IMO, is a no brainer. One other thing I noticed that on Audiomidi it is clear that ECO is 32 bit, SW nor Toontrack seem to mention if EZD is 32 bit or 64 bit or if there is an option... is 64bit an option with EXDrummer? I almost didn't come online today... I am glad I did! Julien

@jbow the AudioMidi code is: AM15 Seriously, I really think both BFD Eco and ezDrummer are well worth picking up as this ridiculously low prices. They're both amazingly good for this price and they sound different from each other. It just gives you more options to find just the right drum kit for the song.
