With the JamPointz they gave (us) me, I got MODO for $104.99. Then with the remaining JamPointz (after MODO purchase) I got the T-Racks 5 upgrade pre-order for $70.99 (I already owned all of the T-Racks modules so that was all I needed).

$249.98 worth of stuff for $175.98. It's like 30% off (kind of). And I now own MODO. yay

If I had waited for sales, maybe I'd have saved another $40?

Is there a way to preorder through the custom shop with gear credits?

Not at this time, no.  I've relayed the request to do so but I don't believe it is planned.  I'll keep you updated if things change, though.

Gear Credits seem to be getting more worthless with each new IK release. First we were told that we couldn't use them on things like MODO and LMC since those aren't part of the T-RackS / Amplitube / Sampletank product lines. Now we hear that we can't use them on new T-RackS stuff either.

Purchases of Gear Credits should come with a caveat that they may or may not be used for anything you might actually want to buy.

Cheers,
Eddie

"The word comes from guappo, a word in Sicilian and Neapolitan dialects that means a swaggering thug. It’s ultimately derived from the Latin vappa, or “sour wine,” a word the Romans used figuratively for a worthless guy." Feels like home!

Sorry, but in the U.S. that is most definitely NOT what that word means (at least where I'm from and where I've been) and as an Italian-American I find it extremely offensive.  Whether it has been co-opted or not, where I am and for my whole life (and also for my family members, especially those that immigrated here) it has been considered a slur.

Shouldn't be. Italy is everything. The food, the sun, the women, the architecture. Everything. Well, maybe not Berlusconi ;)
Found it interesting how "guappo" sounds like the Spanish "guappa" which is used for pretty girls. But I guess it's quite different indeed. Anyway, cherish your Italian origins! Wish I was one.
Edith: should be "guapa", you stupid woman.

As usual, the IK pricing scheme is a deep, dark labyrinth fraught with unexpected twists and turns. Where's my copy of "IK Shopping for Dummies, Vol. 1?"

Also, if you have few or none T-RackS plugins but do own SampleTank or Syntronik, that $199 T-RackS MAX pack is as sweet as they come.

This did it for me, plus 6 jam points.  Thirty eight modules, that comes out to $5.00 per.  Of course most I probably won't use, but there are more than a few gems in there.

Then I saw the MODO bass video, and the cross grade price, and having 11 more jam points from the T Racks deal, I swallowed, and bought it too, for $138.00.

I can't believe I did that, but the MODO looks like a beast.

Thanks for the intel ya'all.

Damn I love these lingo links. So the Spanish version has a positive inclination, contrary to the Italian. Still, no Ferrari made in Spain. Just look at that new Portofino. Only in Modena. Home of sweet aceto balsamico, Ferrari and ... our beloved IK Multimedia.

This is a bummer.  I was thinking of buying credits on a monthly basis or instead of getting those on sale Wave plugins put that towards gear credits.  Sadly it seems when IK releases something new it seems to create such a stir.  After the really poor handling of Ampeg 2 you wonder if they will not allow the Tracks group buy freebies to be updated to 5.  I'm a fan of IK but there are times.................I'll just leave things be and purchase less.

This is the problem I'm having BD......in the Custom Shop the price for me (signed in) is $99.99. If I select "Use Credits", it says I need 100 GC's to purchase and can't go any further.

If I choose the "Buy" option, then I can use the promo code to get it at 50% off, but there's no option to enter the GC's.
I can only use one or the other and have to pay the $49.99 out of pocket (while my 55 GC's just sit there).

It would've made a lot of sense to have an option to use GC's when you get to the Order Summary and it says: "Choose your payment method below to confirm your order"......but, that's not the route IK has taken.

There will be a T-RackS 5 CS – Custom Shop version available free of charge. I'm pretty sure our old plugins will run smoothly in there. Maybe some toys will be included. It's pretty much like AmpliTube 4, which also has a free CS version, allowing all AmpliTube 3 effects and amps to enjoy the upgraded engine. Whaddaya thunk, Pietro ?

Here's the full text fwrend referred to:

"Multiple versions to suit all needs

T-RackS 5 comes in different packages so you can choose the best option for your needs.

Previous users, owning some or all modules, can go straight to T-RackS 5 and take advantages of all the new features. This version is also ideal for beginners or users getting into mastering for the first time since it includes the 4 new modules along with 5 additional classic T-RackS modules (for a total of 9 processors) to jump-start things right away and let you mix and master taking advantage of the finest analog modeling technology and classic sound that we are known for.

For more demanding users T-RackS 5 Deluxe offers 22 smartly selected modules that cover you for most mixing and mastering duties with a wide selection must-have vintage and modern EQs, Dynamics processors and more.

In each of this version you are always free to add more modules as time goes by, thanks to the exclusive T-RackS Custom Shop, that allows you to try any of the available processors for 14 days, and buy them a-la-carte using $/€ or Custom Shop credits for greater savings.

If you want the full processing power of the entire suite at once, T-RackS 5 MAX is the full-blown collection of all 38 available T-RackS processors covering everything from vintage compressors and EQ’s to reverbs, stereo processors, saturators, precision digital tools and more."

Third paragraph puts it clearly: you only need the basic package at $99 to upgrade all you have and get the new engine as well as the four new plugins that come with it.

Just pointing out that the paragraph has been changed in the meantime.
It now says:
"Previous users, owning some or all modules with a total of $/€ 99.99 or more can purchase T-RackS 5 at the upgrade price and take advantage of all the new features."

The plot thickens ...

Since they haven't been recoded, it's a safe assumption that the only difference for existing modules is the GUI.

My take (which could be completely wrong) is that the $99 pre-release upgrade to T5 will get you the new standalone app plus the four new modules, your existing T-RackS plugins get a new dino-free resizable GUI, and the metering plugin will be improved to match the standalone app.

For those who don't use the app (myself included), what we basically have here is a deal to get four new plugins for a C-note (real money, Gear Credits are currently no good) less any Jam Points you apply (up to $30 worth). Still with me? So if you've got the Jams, you can buy the new things for $69.99. Let's take a look at each of those.

1) ONE - a Swiss Army knife of a mastering plugin that can do pretty much anything -- broad EQ, compression, saturation, transient shaping -- the only similar plugin I can think of offhand is the Heavyocity Punish, but that is MUCH more expensive. It'll be interesting to compare.

2) Dyna-Mu - an emulation of the Manley Vari-Mu that's been previously modeled by Native Instruments and Universal Audio. Again, some shootouts will be in order. It's a studio standard mastering compressor.

3) Master Match - appears to be a matching EQ processor similar to the ones found in Ozone and Fabfilter Pro-Q2. Whether it offers any advantages over those remains to be seen.

4) EQual - new general-purpose clean EQ that takes GUI and functionality ideas from other modern EQs like Pro-Q2 and Waves H-EQ. Looks nice.

Assuming you don't already have similar plugins, $70 for all four appears to be a great deal. Although I personally wouldn't buy anything without demoing it first, these are likely to be competitive at least. I'm also curious to see how much CPU they consume, as recent T-RackS processors have been on the hungry side. Anyway, congrats to IK on the new release.

Cheers,
Eddie

I really, really, really wanted to like the T4 standalone.  I guess I do really like it with the exception of the size.  As far as flow and layout go, I much prefer the T4 GUI to twiddling about in FX bins in a DAW.  If the new T5 GUI sizing hasn't destroyed the otherwise efficient layout, that alone will be worth $70 to me.  Updated metering was mandatory at this point.

I read some of the posts in the Fleer's link above but... I'd like to ask this for Peter in the more direct way I can:

I already have T-Racks MAX 4. If I buy the $99.99 pre-order offer will I have the T-Racks 5 MAX bundle registered in my IK account? In other words... will it be the same as if I have bought T-Racks MAX 5?.

Sorry if I sound dumb.

In the beginning there was the "MASCHINE"
the survival and the organization of the planet depend upon the "MASCHINE"
the future and the past depend upon the "MASCHINE"... the past?
but who wanted the "MASCHINE" ?

You will not see T-RackS 5 MAX specifically registered in your IK account.  You will have T-RackS 5 and any of your previous plugins from your MAX purchase will work as T-RackS 5 plugins (updtated GUI, work within the T-RackS 5 standalone, suite, and a single plugins in your DAW).

That's kind of where I'm at ......I have 55 GC's and a code to get SVX2, but I can only use one or the other.

Mesh, use your Gear Credits and get the SVX2. You spend nothing out of pocket and that just about zero's you out. You would have to buy more Gear Credits to get just about anything else. It will never get more perfect.
I thought WOP was an Ellis Island immigration thing meaning With Out Papers.
Spanish does have a masculine equivalent, guapo.

Like Eddie said: "Gear Credits seem to be getting more worthless with each new IK release."

I thought they fixed that. Did you PM Peter?

Yes, I PM'd Peter and he was very helpful in getting me the promo code.......however, he hasn't replied to this issue I sent him 2 days ago.

Welp...I ordered the dang thing.  I've just about got all the plugins...but bought most of them separately during sales so hope this will be a good way to amalgamate them.  Plus the new 4 look pretty good.
