ORIGINAL: D.Triny ve seen the Advertisement and I thing it rather tasteless myself.. Why on earth would use the word DAWG when it absolutely wasn't called for at all. Think about it Cakewalk. It's a business meeting and Sonar 7 isn't even in view and it doesn't appear that they are even discussing music. I don't mind the word "DAWG" think it would have been cool....but goodness they are not even in a studio...yeeks...the cornball factor may backfire. Disgraceful!!! if they wanted a MAC vs PC type ad then they forgot the MAC character. Many people will be left with the impression that the cornball dude represents Cakewalk. not too gewd. Yeah, well, as D. Boon once said to me, "some people are just thick." I mean, really, is the joke that hard to get?

The ad is kinda goofy and the guy with glasses looks like a perv. So what? thats my problem with the ad...I'm certain that many will associate *him* with SONAR. there's no visual contrast.

Maybe the guy in glasses is Michael Vick and "DAWG" is some code word he uses or something.

ORIGINAL: D.Triny thats my problem with the ad...I'm certain that many will associate *him* with SONAR. there's no visual contrast. I don't know... the ad has a sort of unpolished 1980's PC magazine adv feel to it... It wouldn't affect me either way. If you're reading that magazine, you must have some idea of who Cakewalk is and what SONAR is, so in that sense it's all kinda pointless anyway, right? For that matter, I've seen many a "chic" ad with like a black background and some sort of logo, with some simplistic yet "profound" statement underneath. Yawn. Yeah, that's what you get from the guys with the black turtlenecks, but honestly for a niche market like this I don't see how any of it can make much of a difference either way...

I must agree it is poorly executed. I would have had guys in suite around the table all looking at a power point presentation projected on the back wall with some boring corporate looking stuff talking about "Industry Standards" or something like that and a much more chilled looking guy in the front with headphones, the laptop slightly turned towards the camera with Sonar running and a sexy girl (in a sexy corporate suite) sitting beside him at the table leaning over looking at his laptop screen to see what the cool guy is doing with a smile on her face. Ah well... UnderTow

Right, but don't you want to put at least SOMETHING different on the landing page? Something about Sonar 7, even just another little morsel? A countdown clock? A big "7" glowing? in 3D? I mean, honestly, in part of my normal "day job" my clients would kill me if I had a landing page like that lose any possible conversions... those leads you get are priceless... so if you are in control there in the marketing department, why not put something juicy there? Oh well, I know you'll get around to it, but each day you might be losing potential conversions........... (plus we're all excited to know too... I have to be honest about my secondary motivations. )

I understand, I know you're all excited. I expected that the people most upset about the web page not being updated would be existing SONAR customers. You're upset that the site isn't updated because you care the most about what's specifically in SONAR 7, and have been dying to find out. The ad is targeting new customers. The ad itself does not talk about anything that is not true about SONAR 6 and if people unfamiliar with SONAR take the time to review the product, even version 6, they will see that We have distribution agreements in place to not post information before a specific date. My hands are tied. Please be patient. You'll get what you want soon enough.

Here is the Link to the Sonar 7 Ad ~~> Sonar 7 AD Peace Jesse, I'm with you on this. I thought the ad was really lame. I don't mind the playful stab at Pro Tools but the business meeting photo makes no sense to me at all. It looks like a stock royalty free photo was used to create the ad. Furthermore, it looks like a rookie graphic design person put it together. It sucks! The photo has NOTHING to do with a studio, creating music or music in general. The ad offers ZERO insight to the new features of Sonar 7. I just don't get it. Perhaps the whole point of this egregious ad is what we are actually doing here, talking about it over an over. They could have done the same ad with Sonar 6 a year ago and had a jump on the whole Pro Tools vs. Sonar thing. The list of features shows nothing Sonar 6 doesn't already have. Eric

Are you allowed to at least let us know a date or "date range" so that the most insane of us (not me, naturally!) can just simply not waste your valuable time and bandwidth until that date?
