I don't understand any of this. Or any of these threads. People throwing tantrums at marketing, it's just odd.

They must have a lot of time on their hands or nothing important is happing in the world.

Best
John

Surely you must not be including ME among the tantrum-throwers?????? But in all seriousness, aside from the entertainment value, the most crazy thing I've said is partially just to get Cakewalk Marketing to respond with some more concrete info, which at least right now they did with a basically reasonable statement. Not that much info was actually revealed... but at least they are reading things here in this forum... If we keep going, and hit about 2000 posts tonight, we might actually find the magic words that will hypnotize them into releasing more information.... yes, yes! That's it!

+1.

To the OP: Being honest , hardworking, knowledgeable with a superior product does indeed work for the well deserved success of YOUR business , but please allow that when it comes to national/international marketing, this may have taken cakewllk as far as it can go, thus they're trying more 'tried and true methods' now that they've grown.

when the stakes are higher, being idealistic may be difficult or impossible and should be left to those qualified to make that decision. (not that you 'ARE NOT', but Cakewalk hired Carl for a reason, I'm sure.)

Besides, they've taken the moral high ground since I've been using them (When it was DOS) and now they feel they need to get their hands dirty. So more power to them. They're fighting a juggernaut that is just that mostly on reputation. (not bagging on pro tools, but many who swear by it don't even know what makes the major DAWS so different)

See also: Coke vs. Pepsi / Apple vs. Microsoft / Pringles vs. Lays / Alcohol vs. Alcohol

let the last 10+ years of Cakewalk's awsome products / knowledge / support be your guide through these 'dark times'. :)

It's not as if they've printed a pic of Cakewlk's CEO taking a dump on PT's CEO. And I'm sure they've got MORE ads on they with feature side by sides and all that. Sheesh.

I was thinking 10,000 posts. But I'll meet you half way. If this thread gets 6000 posts I'll reveal the entire SONAR 7 feature list.

I've already stated that the ad appeared earlier than anticipated. Magazine dates are an estimation. It was better to be in print at this time than to miss the issues.

Hmmm... We've all seen this logic before from software companies:

"It was better to have the product released with bugs than to have lower sales before Christmas."

Releasing a hype ad = releasing a buggy product?

I got my issue of EQ today and I have no problem at all with the ad.

I think they could have done something more clever than that but whatever...I have better things to worry about than their magazine ad's.

Cakewalk is a good company who does care about it's customers. Digi is a joke of a company if compared to Cake.
