I'll say a couple of things here. Even Adelle (whom a lot of people like) did not sing exactly on tune on a few notes in a couple of her songs. It was not corrected at all. Too much correction takes the artistry out of the music, and makes it sterile in the end. This perfection which never will be is wrecking music in my opinion. Sure you want to do the best that you can and the mix should sound in the end together for the entire song. As for New York type mixing or this or that, stuff it! Most people would not know the difference anyway, and never ever did when listening to music. It is the artist, the feel of the music, the real sounding not perfection that always seems to be what people want to hear anyway. Sure it can not be really bad or too bad, but perfect according to some people - never!

Much better mix Janet! Good song. This mix still lacks bass and kick. Maybe next time check out the mix of the low end a little more? All the best. Rimshot

as always you did a great job on the piano Janet. Nice breaks and builds, you're showing a lot of the emotion on the piano. I felt that Dulcie lost sight of the lyric 1 or 2 times, but nothing bad at all. Good lyric. I like the mix that I'm hearing from my computer. Rock On!!!, Terry

Mix sounds good! The instruments and arrangement are wonderful. Unfortunately, the singer is singing from her head rather than from the diaphragm, sounding a bit nasally and held back.

Nice job Janet! It's good to hear you messing with this stuff. You're getting some great advice along the way as well. A few changes like what was suggested with the mix and you should be in good shape. At least you're doing these mixes on your own...that's the only way to learn. You go girl...proud of you....great job. :) -Danny

Janet, I think you got the drum issue that I was having with the song under control. Much better to my ears. Glen

Thanks for coming back, Jimmy. Maybe I eq'ed the bass and kick wrong? I'll check it out. Thanks again! Thanks so much, Terry! Thanks Scott. She said the chorus was right where her voice breaks so it was tough for her to sing. But I want it in that key, so she had to do it. :) Thanks Danny. Yeah, I'm learning some things. Mostly that I'd rather write music than mix it. :) There's a new guy in school here who was a professional musician and plays everything well. I asked him about this and he thought it was good enough, but is willing to help me tweak it. In person! :) Oh, and help me on the bass and drums. Not sure when we'll fit it in with my crazy schedule right now, but I'll sure try. :) Anyhoo, thanks again. Thanks Glen. Not sure what I changed (can't remember), but glad it's working for you now. :) Thanks Reece. :) My problem now is that someone said the piano's buried and someone said it's too loud. Not quite sure what to do with that, but hopefully I'll get a chance to check it out. Maybe be June before I do, but we'll see. Gotta get back here and listen to some of the great music around here. Hopefully soon!

Like how this progresses. The mix sounds good to these ears just the way it is. Then that is just me talking/typing(?) Great work here!

Hey Janet. This has all the characteristics of a classic P & W tune. As I was listening to it I have to say that it has exactly that character. It's nice to know your still at it! I enjoyed the vocals and piano and I'm sure Herb was in there as well ( he blends well ! )

Thank you, Barry! :) S. Alf, I put a new mix up a few weeks ago, on both SC & RN. Thanks for coming back. :) Thanks, Jim. Herb sounds great on my system, but I know what I'm listening for. Hopefully I'll get back to this some day with some time and better skills. :) Thanks for stopping by!

much better mix Janet... I think a simplier 6/8 beat might work better though... the drums seem too busy to me...
