Great feel/vibe in this track!  It's eclectic for sure when listening to specific parts, yet overall it's still somehow unified.    Not an easy thing to do.  And do well.

As others mentioned the mix is nice and open, wide and airy.   But that seems to be your standard so not really unexpected.

Thanks Steve! I wasn't sure how it would all hold up, to be sure. Glad to hear that it came across okay. And thanks for the compliment on the mix...

Dan

Hi Dan,
Wow ! your song came out fantastic  I love all the themes and all the places the song goes .
Love that Bass pocket you did around 2 and change …
Very nice blend of sounds that I wouldn't expect to hear in the more traditional African sound …
Great Mix too .
on a side note , back East I played w a trad African Jazz band for outdoor concerts . When I moved out West I played with an Artist who did much of the music for The Lion King and The Color Purple ..( those projects were before my time w the Artist )
I happen to Love the Genre even though on my own I'm not setup to  do  it ..

Great Job

Kenny

Thank you Kenny! It started out traditional enough, ha ha...

Dan

Hi,
A great Journey from Caribean islands to eastcoast downtown quarters, then a little walk in the bigwest country side and then, and then... Super job.
I cannot refrain mooving my head like an idiot while listening to this tune,I indeed appreciate the overture.
Thanks a lot.
All the best.

A wonderfully happy mixture of percussive and melodic instruments!
The clarity and balance of the mix is impressive. The arrangement is big, wide open and musically in bloom.
As a musician I always make the same mistake of listening to the production first, and not the song itself.
This time the song immediately grabbed my attention. The vibe is that strong.
Well done sir, well done!

there were 9 mixes that I considered "final" and then I found something I didn't like (or thought I could do better) and would make adjustments to the mix.

I started naming my exports songname-final and then I add ha to the end because I know it's never the final. Every new final, I add another ha to the end. So the more finals I do, the funnier it gets. Also an easy way to track which one is the latest (has the most ha's).

Anyway, +1 to the other comments, a really great track.

Thank you Art! I like your naming convention, lol!

What a lovely, joyful piece Dan. Sounds fantastic through my headphones, like the reverb(s) you're using, really warm and clean. Agree with Daryl, that breakdown is superbly done, and I love the arpeggios that come in right after. Right up my street this one, would make great driving music.

I like the creativity and enriched action, including the ear candy soundscape stuff.  Sounds like a lot of work went into it. The bass and drums sound too synth-like and was a bit distracting for me, though.  Just my two cents.

The fact that you melded together different kind of styles and put melody changes and at least one surprise synth 'attack'. I usually don't care so much about African style rhythms but here it was a good thing. I am not saying I usually hate African drum rhythms but I am not usually fond of them. It might be because I don't hear it so much. And the end result was great. I usually don't hear this kind of material.

You get the "clarity of mix" award every time. Very well done. Just got to the piano breakdown with the washy reverb clouds swirling - that's just super.

I'll open up a can of worms, and say, bass guitar up please. I did get a sense that the mix itself, sparkle though it does, seemed tilted a tad towards the bright elements.

Cool musical ideas and very creative as usual, Dan, love your songs.

Whoa, gotta retract. I was inadvertently listening on my aux computer speakers, they are pretty decent but lack much below 100hz like most cheapie desktop speakers do.

I relistened on my proper monitors, and the bass came back nicely!

Okay... I'm into my 2nd listen and I'm with Ed.  Bass is killer Dan!
I'm a synth man so you got me on the synths and the african intro is pretty nice as well.

Love your overall sound.  Beautiful and slick; wide and open.
But that bass! ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE BASSLINES...

Oh and your breakdown is sooo cool.. Giving me some ideas for some of my own tunes.
Song is very inspirational.
Very well done..

Cool musical ideas and very creative as usual, Dan, love your songs.

cheers,
-Tom

Thanks Tom! I'm glad you enjoyed it, and relieved when you followed up with the retraction on raising the bass...was pretty sure I didn't want to do that, lol...

Dan
