Okay... I'm into my 2nd listen and I'm with Ed.  Bass is killer Dan!
I'm a synth man so you got me on the synths and the african intro is pretty nice as well.

Love your overall sound.  Beautiful and slick; wide and open.
But that bass! ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE BASSLINES...

Oh and your breakdown is sooo cool.. Giving me some ideas for some of my own tunes.
Song is very inspirational.
Very well done..

Thanks Arlen! The bass really drove the direction of the song. I just went along for the ride, lol...

Regards,
Dan

I like the fresh feel you give to most of your music . This is no exception. The synth break in the middel is really cool. Great drum programming.Nice fast moving lively piece!

I thought it was great!  Instrumentals, so much harder to pull off than traditional song with lyrics.  The only thing that I caught was the synth lead sounded a little loud at 1:20.  However, I've only listened on my speakers.
Overall mix was pro.  Great job!

Thanks John! I've focused over the years on getting the instrumentals I write to draw the listener in because, you're right, it is much harder to keep one interested without a vocal. And yes, the synth is loud. It was deliberate because it changes the vibe of the song so I really wanted up front and center. Maybe I went too far? :)

This is exceptionally clean and professional. I find myself making things 'louder' to be like Radiohead or whomever I like at the moment, but it never works out for me. Your piece breathes though; no claustrophobia.

Thanks Mark! I used to overcompress at times when I first started learning to use compression, and at the limiting stage, I tended to push the limiter too hard, which really does make everything feel crowded. Now, I compress only what is needed, and I try to be cognizant of where the compressed track sits in the mix, and at the limiting stage, I use compressors, very gently, with some parallel compression, then stack two limiters in series so that neither is pushed very hard. No more than 3db of gain at each stage.

I also learned not to mix too hot. It really makes a huge difference when there is still a ton of headroom when I'm ready to add my final compressors and limiters.

Dan
