The best email survey yet?

It seemed like less of something and more of something else.

It was easy to answer and I felt like I got to express myself.

Send me more of 'em like that. :-)

best regards,
mike

I felt like I was being asked to bend over and how would I like to be bent. Horrific. I dont like this new 'charge them for everything they want but we should be including' approach. It sucks. Make the progamme work well and include all the really cool tools in the top version. That way we can pay once and be done for a year. This drip, drip witholding thing is frankly a bit distasteful. Has anyone totalled up the cost of all this new prochannel modules rubbish? Nasty direction dont like it at all.

I have tried to be clever and only order PC modules during sales and/or promotions and have got them very cheaply - certainly way cheaper than if I'd purchased equivalent VST plugins.  Nobody is compelled to buy them and, yes they are hard-wired to Sonar only, but the prices reflect that IMHO.

I haven't added it all up [and don't want to] I got all of them when they were cheap[$10 for C.Limiter etc]as I wouldn't buy them for the full price I don't think.

I think the method of offering them heavily discounted early on,is a great way,to get myself interested though.

The survey asks wether we would pay for Pro Channel/FX Chains presets!

Sure I use them[not FX Chains much at all however]and really appreciate the 82 that are there now[except the 2 mysterious joke ones],but there would have to be a LOT of VERY good ones, and out of the 82,I only use, maybe 20 that have been at all useful,so paying for them after that? hmmm a bit odd really.

I answered it as a courtesy. They asked and I felt compelled to respond.

A big +1 for buying pro channel presets and FX chains, as long as I'm the one selling them.

I pretty much said in the survey that the modules are over priced considering the initial investment in X-1 Producer expanded andalso mentioned that most people would buy more if they were priced better. Why pay $50 to $80 bucks for a single tool when most 3rd party tools come bundled with 3, 4, or 5 tools for less per tool cost. I also said pre amp and EQ emulations would be nice as would an integrated, full feature wave editor ala Wavelab, Sound Forge, etc. I would definiately buy one as long as it was reasonably priced.

Yeah that's the way it sounds to me Karl.

Actually, I thought somebody totalled up the cost of PC modules a while back, though I can't remember exactly who it was.

There was something about the wording of this survey that just made it go down smoother.

I mean that. If the people who made the survey ever read this... I hope you know what you did. :-) It was a subtle yet very effective improvement over the previous survey.

I know Cakewalk is looking for alternative revenue streams... so that was no surprise.

What I liked about the survey was that the questions were worded in such a way that I felt like I could easily answer them in a way that truly represented how I feel.

Who ever made that possible.... Thanks for that.

    best regards,
    mike

I started to do the survey but backed out.  Based on my answers to the three questions on the first page, the second page was not applicable, so I stopped there.

Me too like the new policy from CAKEWALK keep sending survey asking the users what we like and care about.
Just keep them coming... Its all good that Cakewalk care about us users.

I'm sure some might think its very useful but I'm not paying or care about presets or basic work shop videos.

What I would like to see are more deepth quality videos for "professional level" about mixing techniques & functions al "Pensado's place" and technology behind SONAR X1. Also Sneak Peak of future products of SONAR X2 all this 100% FREE!

Also Video Guids how to set up different hardware controlers  with SONAR X1 with example:  Euphonix Artist-series, Euphonix MC and system 5, SSL Nucleus, SSL Duality SE, Yamaha, Cakewalk V-STUDIO 700 and Behringer BCF2000.
Video's in mix of external hardware like hardware 1176, Hardware synths, external effects like Lexicon PCM960, TC electronics M5000 and so on...

Quite the opposite for me, I felt like they were asking what we want and determine how we would feel about offering options we could pay separately for IF AND ONLY IF we wanted them.
Surely there are a few features in the "top version" that you don't use or have need for....well like it or not you paid for them.

I'm still trying to get my head round the fact that someone would prefer to be charged an extra $600 at upgrade time (or whatever pie in the sky figure one of the naysayers came up with was) for something that they may not want rather than buy the modules they do (or don't as the case may be).

I don't like the optional PC modules so please make them compulsory. Eh???

    Flabbergasted me.

For some reason I never get the surveys, which is cool.

As for those who think the PC modules are overpriced, maybe Cake should charge a lower priced for PC modules, but out the wazoo if you want a VST version (which, if I understand it, PC modules are VST + effects).  Seems to kill two birds w/ two prices.

FastBikerBoy: Am I following correctly here? The users complaining about the sale of individual PC modules would rather they were all included (compulsory) at update time and then pay one large fee then? I didn't get that at all out of anything posted so far in this thread.

Did I miss something or did something get removed?

Really?   You didn't get that impression from this statement - "I dont like this new 'charge them for everything they want but we should be including' approach"?

And although it's not explicit, it sounds like undertones of the same idea with this one:
"Has anyone totalled up the cost of all this new prochannel modules rubbish?"
    I'll bet it's a big number.

But as Jind would say, YMMV.

Did I miss something or did something get removed?

    From creynolds..........

That way we can pay once and be done for a year. This drip, drip witholding thing is frankly a bit distasteful. Has anyone totalled up the cost of all this new prochannel modules rubbish? Nasty direction dont like it at all.

Frankly I get nothing but compulsory purchase from that, I don't know what else it could mean.

    Am I following correctly here?

The users complaining about the sale of individual PC modules would rather they were all included (compulsory) at update time and then pay one large fee then?
I didn't get that at all out of anything posted so far in this thread.
