John T Yeah, I know, sorry, disappointed and angry, and hurt and rejected and all that. Day in day out, someone's striking up the violins around here. Sadly not for the purposes of actually making music. Anybody else bored of it? I'm really bored of it. I'm not even asking what you're doing here if your bored. You're relishing yourself in every opportunity we give you to let your magnificent self shine by adding your little remarks. That little ego boost that you needed was my treat. And I'm glad I could offer that opportunity when you needed it.

John T Show me a thread you buggers don't eventually turn up in to tell the same riveting tales again and again. Well, I don't want to :P And I basically ingore you anyway - usually.

yorolpal While I was one of the early "detractors" of X1 the more I use it the more I find to like about it. And I have no doubt that it will continue to improve...as all other incarnations of Sonar have. And, believe it or not, I too think it's past time for much of the wailing and moaning and gnashing of teeth to subside. Cake will provide what Cake provides and it's up to each of us to make of it what we will. And I'm making plenty of music with it, quirks and all :-) But I would remind folks that when you read in any given thread what you consider to be tedious lamentations or hand wringing about this or that in X1...there is no one compelling you to respond but your ownselves. Just a thought, mind. There's a pretty major difference in "commenting" than there is lamenting, whining, ****ing, etc. I think some upward pressure from users not so happy can only be a good thing if management is listening. And any communication course will talk about the benefits of repetition ;)

Come on Billy, what have you said, recently, that you've not been saying for literally months on end? What's the new detail? New detail, I venture, would be commentating, and arguably worthwhile. Saying the same thing over and over really is whining.

I'm going to respond this one time - though I have truly made it a policy not to respond or interact with you, I'm sorry to say. SO I guess a constituent should only write or call their (lazy) congressman once? I guess if there's some dangerous street crossing in a neighborhood the people who live there should only call one time to their local [whatever] to take action? I am hoping you're getting my point. And if I and others here bore you please feel free to ignore me and them. But look in the mirror a bit. If you're all fluffy happy with everything in X1 leave us who are not to our commenting and complaining - even if repetitively - with hopes THINGS GET FIXED FOR US TOO. If you're happy go play/make music and let those who need to "call their congressman" so to speak, do so. Nah, you can't do that. I know ;)

That's why it's so puzzling that it so often devolves into the "Sharks" and the "Jets" no matter which it is. I think there are many reasons why any thread devolves (egos, victim-itis, arrogance, on an on). But I know lately I've made an effort to really back down on forums or to try to catch myself getting into the mud. It's not easy because as a friend of mine has always said: "If you play fair and the other guy doesn't, you lose" and I think humans have a natural defense mechanism. But that being said, I don't see this thread (up until about 2 hours ago) as a bad one. Users should be able to express their disappointment if it exists and if for good reason. It can only help the product, I would think. To stop the flow of good and bad would be, well dumb. But some prefer to control the conversation it seems. Oh well. I don't see any Cakewalk Bashing, btw; so I'm not sure why someone would be all puffed up over this thread unless it's habitual ;)

I'm not completely happy with everything. I've put a number of bug reports in (to which I've received prompt replies, for the record). You know, dealing with stuff constructively, through the channels provided. You are on this forum enough to know that Cakewalk have said a bazillion times that this is not the way to get attention for your issues. So you know this is futile. Yet still you do it. This is absolutely whining, and it's simply rude: you are dragging down the value of the forum for the people who want to use it for it's intended purpose.

Mesh Best of luck Mick with your new DAW. Agree. There's a rational man. Decided what he was working with wasn't doing it for him, moved on, said cheerio on the way out. I thought it was all rather civil, but immediately groaned at the thought of the sorry thread that was inevitably going to dangle off the end of it like a booger from a sick child's nose.

I actually think one reason people do these attacks is to "control" the forum. That's the only reason I can think of at the moment, and it certainly has worked by sending away quite a few regulars over the last few months. This thread was a "conversation" about DAWs and Flaws -- until John T turned it into the "I don't like your comments so I'm gonna turn this thread into something it wasn't before". Anyway - I'm pullin' out of this thread. No need to waste more time. This was going to be my lunch break LOL. (Barf) ;)

What John is saying - as he pointed out himself - is something that we are aware of. This forum isn't a proper channel to report bugs. It is a peer to peer assistance/discussion forum. Reason, reality, and balance are fine and even expected when you are discussing an issue with a support representative. But this is a user's discussion boards. Reason, reality and balance actually dictate that you don't expect people to stand in line w/ their ticket number and only speak when asked to. I don't see how much more of a useful contribution it is to repeatedly/systematically intervene into threads which are explicitly opinion-oriented and to complain about all the complaining. If you're here to help, find people who need assistance. If you need assistance, ask. If you want to share your thoughts, all fine.

Oh there's no question Beatz, ol pal, that John possesses a sharp, incisive mind and an ability to quickly separate the wheat from the chaff...at least as far as his opinions take him. That's why it's all the more puzzling why he relentlessly continues to choose to present himself in a public forum in the most unflattering ways possible. Why is that, John?

ba_midi John T I don't expect you to care about my opinion of you. In truth, I don't really have one; I don't know you. The thing is, the point stands. Whining in the forum doesn't get bugs fixed. You know this. Of course most of us know that. But YOU miss the point. And I'm not wasting any more time on this anyway. No really, go on, what point am I missing? You agree that complaining in the forum is ineffective, Yet you you continue to do it. Why? This doesn't seem, to me, to be an unreasonable question.
