IIRC multiplication or any other modifiers need to be put in brackets with the numbers to be futz with if they are to be given first priority in the equation.
As in do the math in the brackets first then use the results to complete the larger equation.

Exactly.
Third line reads 5 + 2 + 2 = 9
I suppose that's supposed to be the trick of this. If you ignore that there are two sets of two fries in line three than the single fries in the last line will muck you up right sideways.

Heh, both of your posts weren't there when I created my last one, but... You're right! I only saw line three as two fries, not four. So (finally), fries do = 1 and the final answer is 15. *Sigh...* I take a day off and my eyesight takes the day off with it!

Am I mistaken that without brackets an equation is to be performed left to right?
So in this case
5 + 1 = 6
6 x 10 = 60
To get 15 you'd have to multiply fries and the shake FIRST then add the burger like so...
1 x 10 = 10
10 + 5 = 15
and what I think that would be written as (instead of what is portrayed) is...
5 + (1 x 10) = 15
Anyhoo... now I'm curious if I flip flopped some junk around since I was kid barely paying attention in math class.

The standard calculator that comes with Windows shows the incorrect answer, while the Scientific one (same app) is correct. More info:
Different calculators follow different orders of operations. Many simple calculators without a stack implement chain input working left to right without any priority given to different operators, for example typing
1 + 2 × 3 yields 9,
while more sophisticated calculators will use a more standard priority, for example typing
1 + 2 × 3 yields 7.

Of course, Paulo probably noticed that the second box of fries in each part of line 3 is slightly higher indicating that it is fries raised to the fries power. That makes fries equal to about 1.56 (1.56 ^ 1.56 = 2.00) which makes the final answer 20.6. That must be what he saw. Sharp that guy is I tell ya!
