If your surgery was anything like mine, you will have a very fast recovery. The hard part is not doing anything for 6 weeks after. I ended up feeling so good, the hardest part was taking it easy. They told me to take 6 weeks off of work after the surgery. I managed to take 2. Anyway, that was 10 years ago and I am still doing well.

I hope the same for you!

Well wishes on this. You're a brave man.

Two internal 2TB SSDs laptop stuffed with Larry's deals and awesome tools. Studio One is the cat's meow as a DAW now that I've migrated off of Sonar. Using BandLab Cakewalk just to grab old files when migrating songs.

Bitflipper

Please, do not say "good luck". That's what they say at the casino, and it never works.

My bro inlaws, one a famous ex-football captain and the other a fireman and medical emergency nurse had similar done and all turned out well for both of them.

So anyway, soon you too will be out there fighting fires, carrying wounded people over your shoulders all whilst tackling 7ft maniacs on a muddy battle field.

So they're going to take a 'bit' out of your back, and then 'flip' you over again?

Does this mean it's time for a new forum name then, or just simply justify the one you already have?

Bit. I hope you have complete success... I have been in pain for about 10 years and I was originally designed to walk upright. I have been looking with interest at the Laser Spine Surgery commercials on TV. I have always shied away from conventional spine surgery because mine it T-1 and maybe a little above, they would go in through the front... and I am not keen on that.
Maybe I skimmed your OP but I got the idea you have a bone spur. I hope you get fixed right up!

BTW, report in... I'm not sure when we should start to worry, it's been a couple of days.

My comment was in no way intended to offend anyone's beliefs or open a debate about evolution. I apologize if that was how it was taken. I was merely trying to convey the importance of developing one's core strength to avoid and/or alleviate back problems. Back pain has taken EVERYTHING from me and it makes me sad to see someone as intelligent and helpful as bitflipper (or anyone) have to suffer through it. Again my apologies to anyone who was offended.

Feel better, bit. I hope you check in soon. Peace.

You didn't offend me Beep... I was just poking at you.
I am generally to dense to get offended, laff. Seriously... I know all about chronic pain. People who do not deal with it have NO IDEA and are qick to judge someone for trying to just get through the day. Like yesterday PM and this morning... I knew rain was coming (not Rain... rain) chuckle. My spine lets me know. I really hope you get some relief and I think that you will if you can manage to hit the window just right to maximize medical advancements and minimize government interference. You are too young to not get some help... trust me, you do not want to hit 60 yo and have to deal with the extra pain that comes with age and arthritis, on top of pain from damage.
I go to a place called Pain Solutions and they do all sorts of procedures... unfortunately not much has worked for me other than treatment of symptoms... but some might for you. Radio frequency treatment is promising. Cymbalta worked VERY well for pain relief, for me.. but I got some weird (not health threatening) side effects from it. Lyrica helps too but it made me gain weight. Lately I have been sort of treading water between getting by and crying. One day at a time. Sometimes a beer helps more than anything... but ony one.
Thanks for the fllow up... and I didn't mean to be offensive either.

Oh good. I like you, man. Wouldn't want to insult. Anyway thank you for the positivity and well wishes. Right back at ya. Chronic pain is an awful thing to deal with. I've been trying desperately to regain some strength and find solutions but I've been cast into extreme poverty due to all this which makes it difficult to even sort through these issues... even with the benefits of socialized medicine behind me. I'm close though. I need one more major life breakthrough to correct some of the remaining financial and situational problems and I'll be able to put more effort into seeking out doctors who may be able to fix me. I can eat better now and I try to do strength building every night when the pain isn't too bad so things are a little better but it has been a long struggle. It's still terribly isolating and dehumanizing. At least I have my music to put my mind into. I'd be far more insane without it at this point. Builds character I guess... or something. Take care.

I'm seeing that some posts have been marked helpful. I'm not sure if those are from before Mr. Flipper went for the procedure but I think they may be new. I'm going to take them as a positive sign that he is indeed with us and recuperating as we speak.

Rock on, bit. ;-)

Edit: On second glance it seems the new forum allows even us non OPs to mark posts Helpful. I'm still going to remain hopeful that he's watching and just taking it easy... as he should.

My bad. I just hate waiting and was messing around with the new software while checking for an update. I inadvertently marked a bunch of people as helpful. And after all, who isn't. If you feel that you have been unjustly labelled as helpful, please identify yourselves and I'll take corrective action.

You're in our thoughts and prayers for a smoth recovery.  One of my sons had major back surgery a couple of years ago (and he's going in for another surgery tomorrow).  I've known a number of people who have had back surgery and they've all been glad they did.

Take it easy and we hope to see you back here soon.

Good thoughts sent your way Dave! Please get back to us when you can so we know you're ok. Pulling for you man and will pray that all goes well.

My dad was presented with the same operation....he was afraid of the bad part possibly happening...so he's stayed on meds. They put it out to him saying "if it works, you'll feel like you're 20...if it doesn't...." You know the drill there.

I put him on a diet and it really is amazing how much it's helped his back. 20 lbs off your frame can definitely make a difference....not to mention he's diabetic so removing the bad food helped there too and it has also kept his sugar consistent. Anyone with back issues that can lose a little weight...it will definitely do some good if you can diet.
