Hi everybody I am back amongst the living. More or less. Still can"t get to my computer (stairs are involved) so I"m cheating and using my phone.
Thank you all for the well-wishes and for periodically bumping this thread so I could find it easily.
The surgery was a success but involved a lot more pain than anticipated. Still pretty doped up on nnarcotics most of the time but held off them this morning just so I'd have the presence of mind to log in and say hi.
Hope to get back to the computer tomorrow or Saturday but not allowed to sit more than 30 minutes at a time. My business partner's having cow because I'm unable to help with advanced technical issues. Luckily most of my customers are understanding.
Time for meds now...ow ow ow...will keep in touch. Thanks again.

Cheers,
Dave

Great news! Get well soon. We miss you.

Best
John

First day back in front of the computer. Yay, I'm trying to make some music again. But the narcotics are having a weird effect on my brain: everything I play is now in Am. It just sounds so...nice. Like floating.

Yes, when the brain is numb it defaults to Am.  Welcome back!

Good to have you back!

But you might want to be careful what sort of audio discussions you read until your brain is clear. The thought that certain ideas you read might make "sense" to you is deeply troubling.

In order, then, to discover the limit of deepest tones, it is necessary not only to produce very violent agitations in the air but to give these the form of simple pendular vibrations. - Hermann von Helmholtz, predicting the role of the electric bassist in 1877.

Glad you're back Bit and heal quickly.
The recovery will probably be in phases and you'll know for sure when only 20-40% are Am.

One could probably disregard the actual message and focus on your wishes. Most of the time, that's what I do when people "God bless" me - even if it makes me nauseous.

The real problem is the sense of entitlement, which makes people think that their beliefs take precedence not only over the TOS, but over other people's faith or absence of faith. That sense of entitlement that makes them think that the problem is not them breaking the TOS but people taking offense.

Throughout my ordeal, not once has any medical professional said "this is gonna hurt!" (they use code words instead, e.g. "take a deep breath", or "wiggle your toes").

At least, not until yesterday when I got a call from a nurse confirming my appointment next week to have the surgical staples removed. She said "you know, it's very painful". Yikes. Excuse me? Nobody's ever actually said such a thing out loud before.

Well, I thought, there are probably only a few of these staples, right? Not having actually seen the incision myself, I had my wife take a photograph. Holy crap. There's got to be at least 30 or 40 staples in there, closing a 9" incision at about 1/4" intervals. Looks like a zipper. Don't worry, I'm not going to post it.

I think the "very painful" prediction will turn out not to be an exaggeration.

Ow ow ow!

Oxycodone should be enough but maybe you need something additional,  something that really smokes, really strong heady stuff.

Hang in there man, just one more hurdle to go through and then you'll be much better, better than before for op.
