Another surprise would be the ability to customise the menu like we could in previous versions.

(This is starting out to be a "Feature Request" thread)

I'm really happy with the way the acoustic guitar amp for February turned out. Y'all should be getting it sometime before the month ends.

I've just about finished a new amp for the March update. Actually it's more like a pedalboard and called EDaMp; it's designed specifically for EDM weirdness with guitar. However, it's the least "plug and play" of any of my amps - you need to do some adjustments to accommodate different guitars and playing styles. It will include documentation and some demos because if you just plug in and start playing, the odds are against having a satisfying experience. But once you get it dialed in, it's unlike anything else.

The first 3 books in "The Musician's Guide to Home Recording" series are available from Hal Leonard and http://www.reverb.com. Listen to my music on http://www.YouTube.com/thecraiganderton, and visit http://www.craiganderton.com. Thanks!

Well, whatever happens, I hope they release it before I get my new shiny system from Jim

And specifically, it hopefully contains a fixed C3 that allows per-product install location selection. And also the ability to set the preferences on each individual product, and then just fire off a batch install of all selected products.

And...

Not to rub it in but it is in the upper 70's here in the Phoenix area.

 Our cars are right-hand drive.

The left side is the right side. The right side is the wrong side.

But yea, here in California (I'm in the Bay Area) we are having an unusual hot and dry summer. I'm sitting outside with T-shirt and shorts barbequing.

And I'm still amazed that the US is now the only country left in the world still stuck with the imperial(ish) system. It is such a confusing collection of unrelated and badly though out units. I grew up in a country where we only had the metric system, and the US system confuses me sometimes even though I have lived here for over 20 years now.

And 70 degrees F is about 21 degrees C. Ah, celsius... Yet another logical unit. 0 deg is water freezing. 100 deg is water boiling. What can be simpler? And 1m cube of water is exactly 1 metric ton, or 1000Kg. Logic.

I believe that is was mandated into law for a while for schools to teach it. I was actually in about 4th or 5th grade at the time, and we were taught the metric system, and I still remember the conversions.  Also, because of my Science/Engineering background, I'm still well versed in it.  I can pretty much do lb-kg and mi-km conversion back and forth with pretty good accuracy without a calculator.

As a child growing up in the UK pounds shillings pence, feet and inches and Fahrenheit was all we knew. In spite of being a quirky system, it worked. I do believe metrication is the way to go so why stop there. Surely we need metric time.... :)

Units of time starts out ok, nanoseconds, milliseconds and ends ok with decade, century and millennium. It's just the bit in the middle that needs some modification.

1 day = 100 hours
100 days = 1 Month
10 months = 1 year

Base 10 is like too reasonable. Don't ya know.

Yesterday I needed a wrench to tighten the battery clamp on my Honda. Used pliers. Not pretty.

Just today I needed a metric socket of a size I do not have to repair an electric heater. More than annoying.

Really tired of having two sets of tools: sockets, wrenches, hex, saws, knives, adjustables,...

Up until recently in the UK, I would buy wood labelled as "10 feet of 44mm x 24mm"

The one redeeming feature of the Imperail System was that using a base of 12, there were so many integer divisors (1, 2, 3, 4, 6) compared to metric (1, 2, 5)

Don't leave out, "stones to pounds". And I still hate when an EU company gives dimensions in cm's.

As an ex-woodworker (for now) I appreciate inches being divisible into halfs, quarters, eighths, sixteenths, etc.  Easy to find the centers of things and do simple calculations.  I tried going metric but it's really weird in this context.  Whoever invented the metric system wasn't a woodworker.

We also have our share of oddities, like a 4' x 8' sheet of 19mm plywood  (very common).

Remember the sadness of the Hubble: some stuff built to inches, some to mm.

No doubt the result of the complexities of translating a shared language.

That is because in the metric system you don't typically write fractions as 1/2, 1/4 etc, but as decimal fractions like 0.5, 0.25 etc. So woodworkers that use the metric system will simply use decimal fractions of m, cm and mm.

Having been taught the metric system in school, going to the US system is an example of how something would not be designed if it was done today. Why exactly is 1 mile equal to 5280 ft? How do you convert from one to the other (say if you had no calculator)?

You quickly get into unwieldy decimals which you can't do anything with intuitively.  It's like looking at a clock with hands or a clock with digits.  Imperial you can do with your eyes (fractions) and in your head, metric you need a calculator.

And with a 12" foot, as Bristol Jonesey points out, you can quickly divide into quarters, thirds, halves, sixths by eye.  Try doing that with 10 or 30 cm.

I remember way back in primary school when the backs of our notebooks had these tables with all the weird imperial units.  They facinated me but we never used most of them.
