Monetary discount isn't that important when it's just $99 - free stuff always is

Ahhhh, makes sense why I couldn't find it then. Thanks for taking the time to reply. That said it really sounds like anyone that plans to upgrade early should go the Production Suite route unless you already own z3ta+2 and the included expander (even more so if you didn't get X1 Expanded).

It's cheaper even if you already had everything included in production suite, isn't it? ;)

I guess it depends how much you originally paid for those things.

I think what he is alluding to is that even if you already own everything in the production suite it costs less to "upgrade" to what you already have and then get the X2 free versus waiting until you can order direct at the recently released prices. I think that is true for the UK for sure but the US is actually $1 more....

Great news! I've just got out of hospital after a major operation on my left knee, so this was a pleasant surprise...

I'll be upgrading as soon as, even though I've not even got the hang of X1 fully. I probably won't even benefit from any early adopter promotion because I've already filled my boots with all the Rapture + PC goodies in the past couple of months.
That's not going to put me off from adopting early though...

I was referring to the total cost of the Production Suite + X2 upgrade vs. having bought the separate components + X2 upgrade.   But TBH it doesn't really matter much to me, 'cause I'll be upgrading to X2 regardless.

I think X2 should be free if you were an 'early adopter' of X1 and suffered and are still suffering through all of the bugs that plague X1. X1 has cost more production time than they are asking for the upgrade cost. We've ALL been paying beta testers for X1 without the payoff of fixes unless we pay AGAIN for X2. And for those who argue that Cakewalk doesn't do it for free, if they don't take care of their customers (especially those like myself who have used almost EVERY cakewalk product out and have always updgraded), they will NOT be able to turn any profit. I do NOT appreciate the lack of customer support or BAKER support.

I hope the freebies for earlier adopters are like Full version of R-mix or something like that. NOT Zeta+2, which must of us already own. I just can't wait and getting pumped for the new version!
I will get it as soon as it comes out!

Is there a table anywhere which details which package gets what features?  I have producer today and want the console emulation.  No sure which package it falls into.

+3 on the free boxed version, everything(almost,if offered) I own is box, who wouldn't want the discs, just easier for me, and I hope it's highly considered!

I have Sonar X1 Studio. I'm somewhat put off by the bias in all the marketing towards Producer. I'd like to know what will be new in X2 for Studio users.

I'm not interested in upgrading to Producer. I have all the plugins I need, and I don't like the idea of the tight coupling of tracks to plugins via the ProChannel. I'm tired of seeing ads for all these plugins for ProChannel, btw.

More on the bias towards "Producer": The Cakewalk blog has a heading: "New features in SONAR X2 Producer include:"

Means nothing to me -- I use Studio.

The box isn't gonna cost that much extra. I'd rather get some kind of Cake store credit so I can buy something I personally want/need.

Where did you get this information?
I am so hyped for R-Mix. I need more information on how it works in sonar, despite the 2track-standalone. What is "light"? How does it work? Similar to vvocal? Or as plugin?

Please more info!

@Tabsel... I'm just referring to another comment in this thread. I don't think there is a lite version. Like I said I haven't seen one mentioned anywhere except here. As far as how it works within Sonar IDK but I'd imagine you could use it as a plug. Not sure how it would work on a mono track though. Maybe it would just send the signal to one side of the R-Mix stereo input. Cool looking tool IMO. I think I'll get a lot of mileage out of that one. I showed the demo to a buddy of mine and his reaction was the same as mine... "THAT IS BLEEPIN' COOL!!!"

The box versions are usually $29.99 extra and any break from that would be appreciated by me.

Re:Upgrade Pricing 2012/08/30 18:16:39 (permalink)
Sure but $30 isn't really a huge issue. I'm thinking more like some nice plugs or synths or expansion packs that would normally cost a lot more. Also Cake doesn't technically LOSE money giving those away whereas the production of a box/DVDs/documentation has a real value they have to pay out in cash. Seriously it would be nice if they wanted to give us a bonus for buying early to just give the early adopters a credit to the Cake store. That way everyone gets what they want. Even the box if they so choose. Also, and I've mentioned this before, I think it would be a great idea for them to have Cakewalk wishlists similar to Amazon. Then we could all buy each other birfday prezents. ;-)

Well a credit would be nice, but what I'm saying is I'd use such credit on the boxed version rather than a synth or drum samples, etc...I really like having the boxed versions rather than depend on a download, this becomes important if you have to de-frag or change your hard drive for some reason. Having a hard copy on hand is great.

I don't know what the difference is, but if you want to try that technology, Sony also has it. I got an email from them the other day about it and it said there is a 15 day demo you can download. Can't save or export, but at least you can try it and see how well it works for you before you get your hopes up. I hear it's a great tool, but there's a lot of artifacts depending on the material you use it on.
