Sounds like I should save copies of the dll files in a separate location and note where they go (just in case) and the go straight to Platinum.

I'm keeping copies (+backups) of all installers I have (ever?) installed to be able to go back and dig something out that worked ...
And I will be doing even more backups because the only machine, which doesn't have an updated backup image, just burned last week ... I thought it's only email and other c**p, but d**n - nowadays everything is so important ...

Worst of all worlds is that the Roland studio quits working and then I can't get the MOTU up, but that seems unlikely.  There are lots of MOTUs out there running in the world.

there is no worst case in music. as long as you got ideas in your head, there are means to get them out somehow ;-) hardware is just the pain you need to feel to feel alive

Actually the driver I needed (and already had installed) was at a link that I'm not allowed to post here apparently (deleted by Gibson?)

I think you need a minimum number of posts to post a link. The forums were getting inundated by spammers at one point, and I believe that was one of the measures that was taken to discourage them.

The first 3 books in "The Musician's Guide to Home Recording" series are available from Hal Leonard and http://www.reverb.com. Listen to my music on http://www.YouTube.com/thecraiganderton, and visit http://www.craiganderton.com. Thanks!
