Waves one day sale + voucher
Hey, seems like there will be one of Waves shorter sales tomorrow. 50$ voucher here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=icY_xL72jbI (and now I just wait for the obligatory anti-Waves comment from Bitflipper ;-)) /M

I want to buy Waves S1 someday, but between the silly usb stick and the proud pricing I always decide to opt out. It's hard to pay the singles price for S1 when you see the bundle prices, yet every time I look at the bundles I think, "wow that stuff is ancient and it's all been replaced by better stuff that is easier to buy and use"... and then I decide to walk away. If you buy S1 in Native Power Pack you pay $30/per efx at full price. S1 free standing is $150 at full price. I keep looking at Power Pack... (or the bigger packages) and the only thing I see that I would use is S1, and maybe Desser. I'm gonna snap some day and buy S1 single and avoid all that extra stuff but I'm not ready to pay full price minus the $50 discount for a 15 year old piece of dsp math. Maybe next year. best regards, mike

Q: What does S1 offer that Channel Tools doesn't? A: Something called a "shuffler" effect. Q: What is the "shuffler" effect? A: Waves won't actually come out and say. But I'll take a guess...there is a technique known as the Blumlein Shuffle (a ground-breaking technique only known about since the 1930's). Also known as spatial equalization, you can achieve it with a graphic equalizer plugin.
All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to. My Stuff

I get the impression that most people focus on stereo tools for making stuff seem wide. I'm more interesting in the results they provide when you are simply trying to pan something.

Think I have all the waves stuff I need. I would like the SSL bundle but even the last month when it's been on sale the price is just.. Wrong.
The responsiveness and the gui for most of their plugs just feels ancient compared to Companies like FabFilter.

S1 is a great tool for "psycho-acoustic" widening and skewing....it's a very handy tool... Surprisingly, most of the stuff in the NPP are quite useful in the proper situation, even though they are "older" plugins... The Waves API, SLL, and Neve, are probably the best "console" emulations out there...and the interfaces look just like what they are....with X2 and VCC, you only get "very limited" functionality..while, with the Waves you get the Channel Strip EQ, and the Buss Compressors... which makes a HUGE difference....and is REALLY what is required to "emulate" a console. Granted, the "older" plugin interfaces could use an update, but they are still very good and useful plugins... The "Renaissance" series is still widely used by the Pros... While others may have really nice "GUI'S" I, personally, am not buying a GUI, I'm buying a "tool" and what get's me there the BEST and EASIEST way....so, I guess that's a matter of preference...while an awesome GUI (like Sonar has) is great, if it "lacks" what you "need" then it means nothing...it's just another "pretty face". I, personally love my Waves plugins....and I find the S1 very very useful...but that's just me...

i use rennaissance on a regular basis.... rcomp, rverb being the most used.... i like maxxbass, and that's pretty old.... even the venerable ole L1 gets a LOT of use on my mixes..... almost never use S1, really never come across a scenario that i would want or need it i use L2 for mastering, along with a few choice others

I got the Renn bundle a while back at one of the no brainer sale thingys. And I continue to be amazed at how useful several of the plugs are. As said above, they might be a little long in the tooth...but so are the 1176 and the LA2A...but they get the job done very well. Got my coupon to be delivered...so now we'll see if there's anything WAVES I can't live without tomorrow.

The Renn collection is just plain good all around. I'll use S1 on Room & OH to center & make the field a bit less. I'll adjust the balance of the snare on those 2 also which is typically a bit left.

I got two notifications from AD about the sale and requesting me to sign up for my discount code...one to my personal email account and one to my business email account. Wonder if this means I can use two coupons as well?

I hope so, the same happened here and I will need two licenses of anything Waves I buy... Just curious if anyone is using MAXX BASS and what they think of it. Kind regards, Rick

I dont care about the gui much as long as the tool is good of course. What I meant wasnt really the graphics but moving controls etc just feels a bit sluggish. I've always had weird issues until I moved to Windows 8 with Waves knobs and sliders moving in a studdering fashion.
Pardon my english, not my native language.

Just got the coupon code a few moments ago in email (11:50 PT). Waves has the sale up now. Not sure what I will get, but with a $50 coupon I will probably grab at least one of the singles.

Looks like their C4 finally is on sale. $69. There were few plug-ins left on my list at the beginning of 2013, mainly Bass Rider and C4. I grabbed Bass Rider for cheap in a recent sale. I guess it's time to cross one more item on my to-get list. Never thought I'd get for under $20, though... :P

Can anyone comment on whether or not the REDD would go well with NLS? I have the NLS but not the REDD. I read that they are modeled on different EMI consoles, but my thinking is that adding REDD to NLS would give a EMI type console. Any thoughts?

I got the REDD and I have to admit that I use it more than I thought I would. I really like that one. I still havent gotten my voucher. But if I get it I will probably go for either the C4 or possibly the JJP Analog Legends since getting both the PuigChild and PuicTec for 99 bucks seems like a steal to me. But do I need it? Hardly. ;-) I really should save my money for the FabFilter stuff instead. They use to have summer sales as well, dont they? /M
