What are you recording?
What is the last thing you recorded and mixed? was it your original song? did others participate? did you post it publicly for others to listen to? just a fred to discuss what we're doing with our sonar software to record and mix. Me: song name: You Rescue Me others who played on it: Bass by Ed, BGV's by my friend Yvonne, Sax by Rich (psalmist35), acoustic by my friend Steve yes, it's publicly posted, you can read about it here: You Rescue Me this fred's not meant to be a shameless plug (although you'll notice I did plug it!) - but to discuss what you're doing with sonar. I'm curious about what you're working on - especially if I haven't heard any of your music before. I'd really like to hear other peoples music from this forum. I consider you all friends and am interested in what you're doing.

Doing some of my favourite, old motown stuff, presently "everyday will be like a holiday". All myself starting with Midi tracks and TT-1 for the scratch tracks. Editing and re recording some of the midi tracks and replacing the tts-1 instruments with better VSTs. Some audio like bass , acoustic guitar, harmonica depending on the flavor. Vocals last, and harmonies and back up singers from hardware or software harmonizers Mix in sonar master in Izotope.

The last thing I recorded was your bass track, Reece. I'm working up an idea that Jan gave me while back. I've been on a stealth mixing/mastering mission. And finally The CHB is in process on the final track that will complete our first CD (almost exactly 60 minutes of music).

I am recording every other day or so. Then when I come back to the song I erase everything I recorded and record some more.Record/delete...record/delete. Sonar makes a wonderful eraser lol. Recording a lot of guitar stuff right now. After preparing to play once a week and still possibly joining another band( another practice this week I think) I have limited time to record. My recording sessions have been more like practice sessions that are recorded...and deleted.

I'm currently working on some 'research' projects based around '90's dance music in order to develop some usable sound-sets that reflect that era and capture the vibe. I'm also producing some self-penned weirdish 'Electro' stuff which for some strange reason is getting some enthusiastic responses after appearing on several club play-lists around here. That seems to be going down quite well. I've requested some collaboration input from a couple of people too which hopefully will bear some good and juicy fruit. So despite a long-standing hiatus over the last few years it's nice to be making plenty of music and having fun doing it. I'm also testing another pre-release app. currently so I'm being an all-round busy bee at long last. I've even had a few thoughts recently of getting re-equipped to play out again but although it's a move in the right direction there's still times where that could be regarded as no more than wishful thinking. It is progress though as I couldn't have even imagined thinking about it a couple of years ago so it's a positive sign for sure. Thanks for asking.

While I occasionally have to take a break to produce a track for "paying customers", I'm currently on the (never ending) back side of my vanity project. So far I've decided not to "tease" it with early releases of most of the tracks although I do sometimes post one to my soundcloud thingy to see how the mixes sound on the web. I'm an indefatigueable and tedious tweaker though so I'll probably croak before I'm finished. But I still plan on being the oldest person ever to win the "best new artist" at the grammys;-) I'll keep ya posted.

Aside from my stuff.... and doing much of nothing musically on my tunes.... I did have a long time and well respected forum member here, ask me to write some lyrics for an idea that he had started as a chorus.... some verses were needed. So I took a few days and with help from my Co-writer in Texas, she get the ball rolling then had to go out of town on a family medical issue...leaving me to write solo. Any hooo.... I wrote 2 verses on a song that I have little artistic control over..... which is a totally different thing for me to do. So I shall not name the names of any of the people involved but my guess is that soon....very soon, all shall be revealed in the songs forum. Patience Grasshopper.....

This Yes No Yes I've actually done a lot of recording lately, but just the basics. One rhythm, one bass, one vocal, one backup, and sometimes a guitar melody and/or simple organ background. No drums, I just play along with the metronome to keep a basic timing in case I want to go back and add drums at some point, but that's it.

I wrote me first tune when I was 15. It got performed once by a friend's band but never recorded. I decided it was about time I recorded something with the Vox I spent so long restoring, so "Play the game" has been dug out from the dark recesses of my head. I can even remember the words.

Hi, I'm working on my radio show right now. I am putting together the first show ... all insane, and I doubt anyone in the Coffee House will want to hear it! It is going to defy description! Not sure about the "mix part" yet, and in fact I'm still struggling with combining a few things ... but it's coming along ... coming along ... The first "piece" will be nearly 2 hours long ... and non-stop ... it could be considered a "concept piece" ... but nahhh ... it will be me and we'll see what we got! I was thinking of asking a couple of folks here for their material but so far, only Julibee's would fit what I am playing around with and all the mixums. And even then, how I use what she does might not be something she likes as much as what she is doing right now ... we'll see.
