Looks like 8, because I walked out on the Rolling Stones! I never bothered with the top ten bands, kind of thing, as by that time, my head was too much into European stuff, and most of that top ten stuff is just not even in my collection. If there were regrets, I missed Jethro Tull a couple of times, and Genesis, I gave up on, because I wanted to see them with PG and it did not happen. Other than that ... none of the bands really turns me on. Here's a list of mine ... and I have to clean it up some more ... the ones together was a show with both bands. Random Hold/Peter Gabriel Stevie Ray Vaughn/Robert Cray Status Quo/Mason Profit/REO Speedwagon/Brownsville Station/The Crow/Amboy Dukes/Ides of March/Ravi Shankar Pink Floyd (x4) Roger Waters Tangerine Dream (x4) Hawkwind (x2) YES (x2 if we use the current goings) Roxy Music/Rare Earth/Robin Trower Black Sabbath/Nazareth Return to Forever (w/ JLPonty) Zappa plays Zappa Deep Purple/Leon Russell Gong (x4) Daevid Allen (Divided Alien in 1978/79 or so and University of Errors in 1998 or so) Man Alan Stivell Herman and the Hermits/Blues Magoos/The Who Nektar Stix Dream Theater/Queensryche/Fates Warning (thx Craig) (Dt x2) Babe Ruth/Iggy and the Stooges Charley Musselwhite Richard Thompson Firesign Theater Porcupine Tree Lana Lane and the Rocket Scientists/Per Lindh Project/Buckethead/Brand X/Magma/Bondage Fruit Renaissance Todd Rundgren George Thorogood The Moody Blues Mississipi Charles Bevel/Chick Streetman Anderson/Wakeman and Rabin Steven Wilson Damo Suzuki PDQ Bach Yehudi Menuhin and Ravi Shankar (East meets West) Andres Segovia

Music is not about notes and chords! My poem is not about the computer or monitor or letters! It's about how I was able to translate it from my insides!

Scrolled through some of these at lunch today. Interesting to pair up folks I hear in the forum with the bands they've seen live. Very cool. For me....the ones I can remember at least. I'm leaving off opening acts if I really didn't care about them. m = saw multiple times. Most between 1977 and 2003....just a handful since. Big misses (for me): Joe Satriani (could have seen this year but don't prefer the current band), Al Dimeola (had ticket, show was cancelled). Would have loved to have seen any 70's tour for.....Pink Floyd, Lynyrd Skynrd (sp??), Alice Cooper, Elton John. Hoping to see: Steve Steven solo (currently in Europe...hoping for US), Devin Townsend, Neal Morse Band, Steven Wilson. Heart (my first concert, Little Queen tour...loved it!) Boston Rush..m Ted Nugent Van Halen Chris Smither Triumph Foghat Dream Theater Steve Morse..m Eric Johnson Steve Vai Queensryche Saga Jethro Tull..m The Fixx---great live show, wasn't a massive fan but like them now Moody Blues..m Megadeth Tommy Shaw Billy Idol..m Porcupine Tree..m Kings X Yes..m Kansas..m Styx Alan Parsons Project Judas Priest Tempest Robin Trower Rossington Collins Band Foreigner Blackfoot Molly Hatchet Great White Faith No More Live The Jay Rakes Band..m (local band, I took a few lessons from him in 2008) The Tragically Hip Little River Band Rory Gallagher The Flower Kings

Another one I forgot, and is a recent one too. Irish band Aslan, very "big" in Ireland at one time apparently were at the anniversary of McGettigan's bar in Dubai. I had not heard of them but they were quite good and large sections of the audience were very familiar with their hits. I missed Mary Black at the same venue as I was out of town.

Not that it really matters, but my list includes several folk artists, a couple of reggae acts and people like Al Jarreau, David Sanborn and Lee Ritenour, who are definitely not rock.

Either you and ken are mad I didn't read your lists carefully enough, or you're obsessive about details.. Either way, this is our poly tickal system at work. Misconstruing assertive statements to one's advantage. It's all straw.

It's all cool David. I didn't wish to come across as mad. My mis-interpetation of your statement. The facts are probably accurate that most of us here are from rock influences and rock acts do dominates the lists. I do feel fortunate though that I have seen some non-rock acts in the past which are highlights to me. One in particular was having the opportunity to see Bill Monroe (Father of Blue Grass) in an intimate setting some years back (Old Town School of Folk Music in Chicago). So many musical masters are now gone.
