Joni Mitchell (saw but unfortunately could not hear due to bad sound) Bruce Springsteen (saw and heard but could not sit through because of overloud sound) Grateful Dead (saw and heard but could not tolerate due to too much LSD (them) or not enough LSD (me) That pretty much sums up my live pop music concert attendance. Recorded music rules.

Steppenwolf - IGDV - my first. Canned Heat, Crow, Redeye Jethro Tull John McLaughlin Stanley Clark Three Dog Night- heard probably 3 tunes...riot from being oversold. Got crazy. Ten Years After Edgar Winter - Johnny showed ZZ Top Led Zeppelin Jim Croce Marshall Tucker Band Blue Oyster Cult Seen quite a few not worth mentioning like Johnny Paycheck, Faron Young etc. Lot of bands like that use to fill in for us when we took off. these are the ones I remember right now...most of them I can't recall who was with them. Some I'll probably never remember due to....well it was the '70's. Deep Purple cancelled...remember that. Pissed me off. Said the stage at the Tingley coliseum wouldn't hold them. Missed Hendrix...I was sick- remember that. Oh..Foghat maybe more will come to mind lol

I'm sure there are others I forget, and a bunch of acts nobody would have heard of outside Quebec. That being said, I'm not a big fan of rock shows. I prefer to "hear the music" than to "live the excitement", and most rock shows are just too loud to really hear what's going on.

When I was young I was that one weird guy (yeah I know) who didn't go to many concerts but instead bought the albums. A few live experiences were good, but I don't really remember much of anything from them! At least with the albums (some of which later were rebought as CD's and even later sucked into my computer where I still listen to them), they would last... Here's a partial list (some were not of my choosing and I definitely don't remember them all!): Bachman Turner Overdrive (at Knott's Berry Farm) KISS Van Halen Kings X (opening for someone I can't remember, Guns and Roses maybe? I think it was at Whiskey A-Go-Go.) The Knack (intimate setting, we sat at the front table with the lead guitarist's Mom who had never missed a concert!) Oingo Boingo (including getting front row seats from Danny Elfman himself for their famous Halloween show - we sat next to his wife and kid) Jefferson Starship (in San Diego Stadium) White Wizzard (new guitarist was business partner's nephew - he's VERY good!) Rolling Stones (in San Diego Stadium) Blue Oyster Cult (who our band, Foolish Pleasure, opened for in '84 - they were billed as Soft White Underbelly) Walter Trout (many times, mostly in his tiny home bar called Perks right by the Huntington Beach pier) Information Society (at an underground club called the Blue Room) Sisters Of Mercy (at an underground club called the Blue Room) Striper (at Knott's Berry Farm - bleh.) Robin Ford Jorma Kaukonen (of Jefferson Airplane fame) Scorpions (friend bought seats but didn't know where they were, I bring binoculars. Seats are dead center, first row above the "pit" - binoculars definitely NOT needed!). Dozens upon dozens of bar original and cover bands. Many with friends in the bands and even a couple where I got to go up and join 'em for a song. I almost saw the Beatle's last U.S. show, but my parents thought I was too young to take along so they didn't go. I also almost saw the Who, but the day before I was supposed to go was when Entwhistle passed away so the show was cancelled. I KNOW I've been to other concerts, but I'm just not remembering them at the moment! LOL. There's also a very LONG list of bands I wish I had gone to see. Oh well.
Time for all of you to head over to Beyond My DAW!

Rush McCartney ZZ Top Elton John Sting Sheryl Crow Tim McGraw Eric Church Point of Grace Far From Home Kenny Chesney Van Halen Scorpions Dokken Metallica Kingdom Come Amy Grant/ Michael W Smith I also worked the Superpages Concerts for about 3 years as fundraisers for the Ice Hockey Team. I heard a lot of concerts during those 3 Summers while working them. Sometimes I would sit and watch for a while if it was a band I was interested in. My company used to set up AV and stages for events as well. I think I really enjoyed watching many of the preshow rehearsals more than the actual shows. Interesting stuff what goes on prior to the actual event. My only regret is that I never got to see Lennon live, nor Clapton. I had my chances on Clapton, but they just didn't happen. It may never, now that he has scaled back. I would have like to see BB King as well.

My interest in live concerts gradually decreased after too many disappointments in sound quality, and when getting the tickets became more and more a speed contest. The mentionable of my concert list are maybe Led Zeppelin Rolling Stones Jethro Tull Frank Zappa Free Uriah Heep (the original line-up) Neil Young Bob Dylan Fleetwood Mac (the original blues line-up) Tina Turner Dire Straits The Who David Bowie And some nice ones on rock festivals long ago Colosseum Wizzard Kinks Canned Heat Argent Family Fairport Convention Jeff Beck Lindisfarne MC5 Boomtown Rats Eric Burdon

I've seen more than I can count, but here are the notables: Bryan Ferry (my first concert) The X-Pensive Winos (their only Toronto show ever) Spinal Tap (on their 1-day, cross-Canada tour) David Bowie (1990, 1991, 1995, 1997, 1999, 2003) James (one of the best shows i've ever seen, and they did it in a CLUB) The National (didn't know of them, or care - by the end of their first song my jaw was on the floor - brilliant live band) REM (A great, aggressive rock 'n' roll show, surprisingly gritty) Ministry (just... wow) Iggy Pop (how do you make a guitarist in the audience ignore the guitarist onstage? Walk Iggy on!)

michaelhansonMy only regret is that I never got to see Lennon live, nor Clapton. I had my chances on Clapton, but they just didn't happen. It may never, now that he has scaled back. I would have like to see BB King as well.
Saw Clapton three times, I think in 77,78 and either 79 or 80. All at the same 1200 capacity venue, first was when he was kind of rebuilding his career. His band was the Ocean Boulevard one, with Ronnie Laine supporting. The second time Muddy Waters provided "support", though it was difficult to decide who was supporting who. The third was a world-tour warm-up gig with a cut-down band and Albert Lee as second guitar. After that he started doing 15,000 seat venues where you need binoculars to see the stage, and dropped blues in favour of focusing on his own middle of the road stuff. And I lost interest. Three chances to watch Clapton at his best from a distance of ten feet is something I'd really like to be able to live again. As would a chance to time-travel and see Ronnie Laine.
