Chuckebaby, Thinking about the VS-20. Problem right now is finding one for sale in Canada. What foot switches are you using for control options? I saw that the Vs20 takes pedals, etc. and wondered about that. Single button for punch in, punch out? But what about those transport controls? play/stop/rewind? Newbie to this type of gear. Just starting out with X2-Studio too, so I will definitely have a look at those tutorials. Thanks, wolf

Thanks, wolf Hi Albert As I don't use external footswitches with my V-S 20, I can't tell you which type of switch to use (I'm sure Charlie will be able to let you know when he sees your post), but here are the functions you can assign: If you want me to send you the PDF manual so you can take a better look at the V-S 20's capabilities, just send me a Private Message with your email address and I'll send it to you. Edit to add: Albert, the Boss FS5-U they recommend is an Unlatching footswitch (the FS-6 can be assigned latch-type or momentary-type).

bitman Build chronicled here. http://www.gearslutz.com/board/low-end-theory/332418-poor-mans-icon-big-box-bcf-bcr-2000s.html Not to interfere with this cool thread here, but you Sir, (said with a salute) are a maniac! Hahaha! I read that whole thread from the time the idea of the poster hit you like a ton of bricks, to completion. That was a really awesome read as well as seeing how you did it all and shared how it came together. Really fine work, bitman. I wish you lived closer to me, I'd pay to have you build me one just like yours. I have nothing in my little man cave and have been looking for something for a long time now. I had the coolest little thing that worked perfect for me. No mechanized faders or anything, but JL Cooper made this little mini desk. I still have it here and it was beautiful for what it was. 32 channels...smaller than a piece of paper. Wait, let me find it. Unfortunately, the XP midi driver for it will not work in Win 7. I even begged the company to update the driver for me and offered to pay them. It's probably so easy for a code guy to do. It made me want to try and learn code because I'm so bummed that I can't use this piece. Anyway, I just wanted to give you props for your awesome accomplishment. It was great to see a Sonar brother shining over at GS where people were kind enough to praise you without knocking you down or competing with you. In regards to the thread: I use a Tranzport CS in my man cave, but only for my drums since it's wireless. No reason to really use it at my mixing desk as it doesn't really give me enough options...but it sure is cool. At my real studio, we're using a Tascam DM 4800 console in our main room which joins up with Sonar perfectly. In our B room we have the Mackie Control Universe with the extenders. No issues with it at all with Sonar or anything else we use. -Danny

I would like more Control Surface support. BTW, I recently received 10+ mails from the problem reporter that my control surface issues (VS-700, MCU) were investigated and assigned to development ... so I hope they do fix that in time for the next update

Novation Remote SL61. Haven't seen anyone else post response with this unit. I thought they were pretty common. Got some great features but I do find it kinda sketchy in operation though - maybe that's why no one else has one?

I'm also surprised that no one else mentioned the Remote SL line. I've been using the ReMote 37 SL for a number of years, but sometimes wish I had the 49 or even the 61 instead.

FreeFlyBertl Just out of curiosity ... ... and because there's usually not much feedback when posting questions that involve any sort of interaction with a control surface ... ... and because we had a similar thread over in the VS-700 forum to show Cakewalk that there are people who need more than mouse and touch ... Who is using any control surface with X2? Which control surface are you using? I hope to get the post count to over 6000 to show Cake that they need to give control surfaces more attention, especially when introducing new features (ProChannel modules, FX chains, etc.) BTW, I use mostly VS-700, but occasionally also VS-100, A-PRO 800, sometimes even BCF2000 in MCU mode ... deanx. Go for the touchscreen. I have the 23" Acer and love it. The 27" was a bit over my budget. I'm sure that the 27" will be an improvement over my 23" It does many things that a knob and fader surface controller could never do, its more monitor real estate , there's no act BS to deal with and it's only going to get better as Cakewalk improves support. It also rocks if you do stuff other than use Sonar on your PC.

I've had a few... Now I'm just using a Novation Nocturne besides my MIDI controllers. I'm currently looking into replacing my Axiom with a Novation Impulse. Would like to have a Mackie. We used to have one + extender in a studio I owned but I left it with my partner when I sold out of it. didn't use it much but all the buttons did what I wanted them to. Some day I'll probably get a new one.
