Dave,
One more question. You bought the Shell, then the 670?
If so the Classic EQ is included with shell; right?
The Fairchild is the "Vintage Compressor Model 670".

No, I bought the singles first and then the Shell.  I think I'll need to call support if Obi doesn't chime in.  By the way, I am using a MacbookPro for this setup.

Thanks for all the help.

Funny, if somebody announces an IK sale or complains about an IK product, Obi usually appears here like magic. It's called the "Garrigus Effect".

Just got my 670 comp.- going through the  authorization process. As much of a pain as it is doing this offline. I'm coming to appreciate the effort on the larger companies of keeping the authorization database and updates as they do.  Now if we could all just DE-EVOLVE to the point where we buy software - we own software - we can use it or sell it - etc. You know like a normal product. Life would be better - EULA's  bite shorts.... generally speaking of course.

I think I'm all set.  The 2 modules I have showing is correct.  I submitted a support ticket and they helped with resolving the issue.  Thanks for the help / comments.

Sorry guys! I'm here now. @Dave They should be showing up automatically. How many singles do you own? If you only bought the 670 and the Classic EQ deal those are the only two modules that would show up and the metering is built into the shell and appears as a VST in your DAW.

Maybe because I don't want you to know what a dope I am

I purchased the T-RackS 3 shell and the T-RackS 3 single from the no-brainer on audiomidi.com.  Which means I purchased 2 modules (Classic Equalizer and Vintage Compressor Model 670)...which is what was showing and is the right items to be showing.

I got confused from 3 things:

1.) I'm a noobie for stuff like this
2.) The post from Deering Amps where he had shown additional modules (he had stated he had purchased more but I was still trying to figure it out).  I appreciate his help in posting his thoughts though.
3.) I didn't realize the singles package was only one single.  If you look at the page from audiomidi.com, they list 10 of them.  I didn't read close enough to note that it was the first one we were buying.  With all 10 being listed, I assumed they came with the package.

So there's the happenings of my journey

Ok, well I'm in the same boat!

after reading your post here, I still was thinking that I was ony seeing the classic EQ, but not the 670 in the shell.  but I didn't realize I had it set on GLOBAL instead of MODULE, and when I put it on MODULE, I could see presets for all of them, but of course only the 670 and the EQ and the classic compressor actually show up when I select any of the presets in the module, but that's OK because that at least gives me all 3 of them that I actually have!

I tried the 670 on a general mix buss.... sounded very good - especially for just smoothing the mix out a bit. I really can't stand the slammed sound on any compressor - including this one -  though it was much less grating with that effect than any other I own. It sounds very nice in moderation. Thanks for the great deal IK /audio midi.

rbh, try it for vocal leveling. I had some problem tracks where there was a pronounced resonance kicking in on certain words. The 670 smoothed it right out.

The 670 does sound awesome on the master buss. I love it with just a db or two of gain reduction. Definitely adds some character.

Thanks for the tip, will try that. My first foray was controlling a punchy Rhodes... then tried it on a full mix.
I've tried PSP vintage warmer and never really took to it. I'm using the Nomad British bundles and I like those as well, but I think the 670 will end up my goto for buss compression. I like Density very much as well. Plenty - O - tools between just those 3 for me.

I did that on a project last night.  using the warm 670 and just 1 to 2dB of reduction added a little character to the master that sounded really good.  nice $20 spent, IMO.

Yup usually on the master buss all you really need is a db or two of gain reduction. So a mix dripping with that 670 mojo tone sounds awesome! I love it on acoutsic and keys too! Especially if the highs are a little too sharp, a little 670 on those can smooth out both the tone and the dynamics!

Aargh. I know it's on page one of the marketing handbook, but please, Obi, let's retire the word "mojo" once and for all! How about using "voodoo" instead?

Bit - if we use voodoo we will have to all get roosters and rum...mojo requires no addtional outlay as far as I know.

OK, voodoo involves chickens. Unpleasant.  "Magic"? They actually use that word in one of the 670's presets. But can you legally advertise "magic" without raising the FTC's eyebrows? I don't think they regulate "mojo" at this time.

How would you describe the tone the 670 imparts on audio?

I would say it's a fast limiter that does a good job preserving transients. I'd say it's capable of compressing mid and side components independently.

Of course, acknowledging that many people who buy plugins are clueless about how they work or what they do, I'd then add that it has an undefinable mojo that {insert well-known celebrity endorsee} describes as "musical". I'd also try to work in "warm", "character", "vintage", "smooth" and "U2" somehow.

mine is the same way - I can load the 670 on its own, but only my EQ is showing up in the shell - I should have the Classic EQ, the Classic Comp and the 670 available to load in the shell, but only the EQ is there.

Make sure that the VST for the 670 is located in the same folder as the T-RackS 3 Shell.
I inadvertently installed mine in a different folder (odd how IK doesn't install it in the correct folder automatically) and had the same problem.
