Great song Bob!  I love your vocal and guitar work.  As others have said, nothing like a good rocker to get you going.

The recording and mix are great. We love the vocal and harmony. The drumming and guitar are very good. Bring the vocal in alittle bit more. Great rock song.

Way to go Oistermeister.  Felt like I was at a concert.  I really like the guitar outro.  I think maybe it fades out just a bit to quickly though.

The guitars sounded like razors on the lappy speakers...so I popped on some headphones...... yeah...that's what I'm talkin bout......

I just posted a new mix utilizing some of your sugestions, as well as some from the earlier posters in the thread.  I rolled off some highs on the rhythm guitar bus, gave the bass guitar about another half a Db, and beefed up the kick and snare with a little EQ.  If you get a chance let me know what you think.

Yeah, I was sort of going for an 80's "gang vocal" on the chorus sections on this and may have overdone the effect a bit.  I just backed it off a slight touch on this first remix (11/22/09), as well as the other changes mentioned above.

Really good. Here's what I hear on first listen (after that any song starts sounding pretty normal and you loose your sensitivity to things being a tiny bit out of place). The rhythm guitars might be a touch on the bright side. It's hard to say if this is the actual eq of the track or the type of distortion used. With big guitar rhythm tracks it's always a fine line between keeping the attacks bright enough to have impact (so they leverage the wide panning), and not eating up the entire top end. (Honestly, it's pretty good the way it is, but it struck me as a tad bright). I think leaving a bit more top end available in the mix for the vocal might help. (I know when anyone comments on a guitar player's tone you can be stepping on thin ice, but in-the-mix you sometimes need to compromise now and then.)

The panning on the backing vocal might be a bit wide for this mix (I hear it as wide right channel). It's a bit tough to tell. I think I might be hearing a third (high) harmony on the third line but it could be an illusion. Mostly I'm picking up the lower harmony though. I wrestle with backing vocal panning myself. There seems to be some magic point where if they are more centered they nearly dissappear and you loose the impact of the stereo image, and if are wider you start loosing the implied chord (blend?) that makes them function as a single instrument in the mix.

No criticism of the guitar solo (the guitar work in general is killer). There might be an opportunity to put more tonal contrast between the rhythm guitars and the lead to have it stand out a bit more, but it's sits pretty well as it is.

The vocal after the guitar solo (starting at 2:13) is where I really start picking up the wide pan of the harmony vocal. I would at least move it more central for this part of the song. (if it were 3 parts I might leave it wide panned). I think another thing that makes it stick out more is that it seems as though the vocal processing in general on the chorus is different than the verse (slightly phasey with more ambience I think).
