sonar x3 won't read pro tools .wav files (direct show error?)
i recently did some live guitar and drums in a studio with protools 10 for mac (i believe; the session was at one of the local colleges, so i'm assuming somewhat). song got tracked fine and the engineer gave me the 24 bit stems of the takes that we bounced down (around 50 tracks total), as well as a protools session (for mac), AND the complete audio folder, containing all takes.
however, when i attempted to import these .wav files (which i requested up front since i'd be editing and doing vocals in sonar x3), i got a dialog box stating "[direct show error 0x80040265] cannot play back the file. format is not supported"
strangely enough, when i switched to 24 bit from 'original' in the bit depth function, i can audition the sound. another peculiar trait is that some of the files gray out the preview bus; not sure which ones, but some play while others do not.
the properties dialog box notes the files as .wav, and purports to open with windows media player, but alas, windows media player's response is:
'media player cannot play the file. the player might not support the file type or the codec that was used to compress the file'.
Not sure where to take this from this point, but the tracks are hot, and i want to use them. suggestions/advice is welcomed.
thanks
