Really? I've downloaded Adobe a few times this year and although it gave me the option to install Chrome and the Google toolbar (which was selected by default of course) it never did it automatically upon download. Wonder what that's all about.

I can't remember what it was, but I started to download something the other day and it automatically started downloading Chrome without asking me. I pulled my USB Wireless Hub stick out of the USB port to crash it because I couldn't stop it. My PC hasn't been acting right since I did this last format ... I'm going to wipe it out again. I accidentally installed Net 4.0 framework. I forgot that it doesn't play well on my PC. I'd avoid it unless you run in to a specific situation where you must have it.

spacey musicman100 spacey Mike I had to get Adobe Reader so I could read a receipt I was emailed... Doing so I saw where it was downloading Chrome and Google search bar too. Now that tested me. Matter of fact it bummed me out so bad that I don't care what Chrome or Googlle bar is good for or not. I wasn't asked and then had to hassle with trying to stop them, which I couldn't stop Chrome. No matter how I look at it that is just low down and dirty. I'll never use either one just because of that. So if ya like it....know that you're supporting some low down dirty scum bag egg suckin low life good for nothing dirt bag sleeze dog stinkin skunk rat sniffin chrome dome fat head bastard alley cat piece of ....dung. Chrome Dung. They hide the TOS agreement for accepting those downloads and disguise them in a shady way. I always look at the dialog boxes before clicking next. You can usually go into add/removes programs and remove the tool bar, etc. Wasn't an operational oversight. I clicked download for Adobe Reader and it automatically started downloading all three programs. The only one that I could stop downloading was the Google toolbar. Of course one can make changes after the fact. It made me do that. I "think" they must have tightened up that add on because i remember DLing Adobe and had a choice of opting out of the crap.

Wonder what that's all about. I don't know Beepster. I was a dark window with nothing but the names and horizontal status bars...all three downloading at the same time. I hit X to close it and it stopped downloading Google toolbar and under the status bar it had "pending". I let it finish....then to top it off I still couldn't open the attachement that I needed reader for! I shut it down and went and watched TV with my wife. I still have the power!@!

@Spacey... That's weird. What are you using to download with? I download through Firefox and I only get one instance of the download with Adobe. However Chrome is bundled in the download but it doesn't install automatically. Just having the exe on your system shouldn't hurt anything and even having Chrome installed shouldn't do anything if you don't use it but that sounds sketchy. Did you download directly from Adobe.com or a third party? If a site tries to get me to download stuff like that I don't use the links they provide. I go straight to the publisher's website whenever possible or got to CNET. Also if stuff like that happens using CCleaner while booted in safe mode is pretty effective at getting rid of unwanted nonsense like that if it isn't too malicious which Chrome isn't... it's REALLY aggressively marketed. I used to like google products but when they changed their TOS and merged all their services a while back I lost all confidence in them. I even stopped using all my Gmail accounts because of it. They must have hired some new corporate bigwig mucky mucks who went all Darth Vader on shiz. Very disappointing.

oop... For those considering IE tab be careful. Apparently there is a guy writing versions of it that have malware coded in. Read this... https://addons.mozilla.or...-plus/reviews/?src=api I'll try to find the legit version. I'm assuming the good one is the one referred to in the CNET link I posted earlier.

Well I can't edit my post above because there is a link in it so... EDIT: I should have said spyware... not malware. Upon further research it looks like this may effect even the original but it's hard to tell. I think I'm just gonna avoid it and install Opera to see if it plays nice with the forum. Cheers.

Beepster....All is fine and I use IE8. I don't know what IE Tab is. If it came with IE8 I have it, if not, I don't. I just don't think it's right to install something and wind up with other stuff installed and then given the choice to uninstall it. I know how I got Chrome and I know how to rid of it.....believe it or not.

Yup. Opera works. Huzzah! It also has ABP and something called NotScript. Maybe I'll ditch Firefox altogether now.

It seems NotScript doesn't get updated like NoScript for FF so I added Ghostery which usually slows Firefox to a crawl but seems to be working okay with Opera. Just makes it slightly slower but considering Opera seems to be lightnening fast compared to FF it's still faster. Also added Adblock. I should have done this ages ago.

Bub ProjectM Bub Testing the 100% zoom thingy and it works. Thanks! :) So you did zoom then Bub - well there you go, back in action! Well done;) Well, yeah, but it only goes to strengthen my claim that Fire Fox 3.6 is still the only browser that works properly ... I can zoom in and out all day long with it and it still works. After a couple hours of squinting at my screen last night in IE9 at 100% and getting a major headache from it, I went back to FF 3.6. It just works ... He he, yeah, I'm not denying that.
