Maybe one on the automation upgrades?!!!

    [edit]
I didn't realize that what I was talking about is covered in Robin's "Event Filter" post. I read that already.

Anyway Brandon, Noel, Robin, Seth, and the rest I'm really liking this. Really nice job people.

    Tip
Stick with 8.53 until this mess gets fixed.   Shame on the bean counters for letting this version out without a warning that it was not even beta testing quality.

I work in one of the top enterprise software companies in the world and I have observed this time and time again. There are a lot of business factors and deadlines are cruel task masters for development. Patches are sure to come and one can think of the initial release as time to learn the new features and grow into the new direction. If you continue using the last stable version in production and do a sandbox for the new release.. you will always be better off. This is how the big boys do it.

I was hoping to see more tips posted in this thread, but it is becoming cluttered with unrelated comments.

Let's stay on track here.  There's plenty of room in the other threads for your editorial comments regarding X1.  I really want to make X1 work for me!

Yes, this post is all about me...

Here is ONE tip, keep using Sonar 8 'til CW get X1 fixed properly.
A few little bugs in X1,yes..... the GUI is fugly.................
So am I,but I'm in my 50's,I'm SUPPOSED TO LOOK LIKE THIS...............
16 years using exclusively CW,but X1 is WAY ugly......
Probably looks good on a Wackintosh............
I also use Cubase and Pro-tools......Well,the truth IS I use the boxes  they came in, under my monitors, just gives them that little bit of extra height........
I have never had any problems at all with CW DAWs,clients ask,"do you have pro-tools'?.......lololol...............Yep,sure do.......I point to the box.......They say,"OK,cool!"...............THEN,we use CW.............
I'm doing a classical piano(Chopin) album right now,and the client keeps saying to me,"Tell me about this Sonar?"............................lol.......
Anyway, can't throw up thousands of posts here,I work for a living............I only come here to read the hate posts,as I ALWAYS could use a good laff when I'm on a break...................

    p.s.
I always thought ppl bagged CWLK,'coz it had a kiddies toymakers name.........let's face it,it WAS kinda 'dinky'................

That's unfortunate that you are having trouble saving your work as a bundle.  I haven't had any issues saving or opening bundles with X1 and I work with bundles at least a few times a week as a part of my archiving process.

A couple of handy tips that I've found in the Track View,

    1. I had a lot of "unsed space" in the track list (left hand side) and couldn't get MSRecho to display without stretching the list out to the right.

TIP - In track view - Options/ Meter Options/ Uncheck "Show Numeric Peak Values"
Options/ Meter Options/ Record Meter Options/ Uncheck "Show Labels"
Options/ Meter Options/ Playback Meter Options/ Uncheck "Show Labels"

    2. I posted before about how I'd have loved to be able to change the "Type Icon" to the "Track Icon".
Well.... it turns out that you can... (handy if you have a lot of tracks)

TIP - Main menu - Views/ Icons/ Track View/ Check "Show Custom In Header"

They may not be news to some, but my be useful to others like myself.

I just figured out that you can change the order of the TV widgets by Alt and dragging them. That's handy for me as I can get the right widgets in view when I minimise a track - with minimum width in that part of the TV.

I'd still like it if I could seperate the R & W automation buttons from the Freeze and Archive - they seem to come as a "set" called track state.

Anyone know how to get the "Tip of the Day" to work? When I launch my previous versions of SONAR, the tip was pretty handy. Now, just installed X1, and when I launch, I get a box that says "Cannot find the TipOfTheDay.txt file.
