why did we choose the prticular forum names we have?
Well for me, I thought musicman was neat and some particular forum I first joined back in the dark ages had 99 other musicman users so I chose the next available. This was when I was a noob at foreums and didnt think about cutsie play on words and alliterations and double entrendes and the such ... sigh now im stuck with it

It's my actual nick name. Goes back a long way. I don't like sunny days all that much. I always dug the Beatles' song. Plus, Flood was already taken by another fellow in the music business. ;)

Bub is a zombie from one of my favorite movies, Dawn Of The Dead (The original). It seemed appropriate when I joined around Halloween last year. I had a few complaints about using his face as my avatar ... ... so I stopped using it. It's almost time to bring him back as Halloween isn't that far away. Can't wait. Halloween and Christmas are my two favorite times of the year. "I don't like sunny days all that much." Me either. The cloudier, damper, and rainier the better I say. It gives me a feeling of security. I know I know ... I should seek help. ☻

Well, it's a really long story, the very short version of which is that one bunch of my friends would call me "Philsey," which I shortened to "Philz" out of sheer laziness. Bapu has heard the long version, and it put him to sleep.

Well.....let me think...oh yeah, because Em7b5 to A7#5(b9) to Dm just has more... of course I don't think Glen Campbell owned Campbells Soup. Santana used those chords. "Flora de Luna" I think. In Em I think. I should work up By The Time I Get To Phoenix on my nylon string...haven't played it in quite some time. I've been there. It's a hot tune. He actually studied guitar with my teacher. He didn't tell me that, my teacher did.

in 1973 I moved to a little town called Fairhope Alabama. I used to sit around playing guitar by the pier (see picture below). I was also a fan of certain herbs. Some guy named Maurice had been shipped off to boarding school for some reason. When I got to Fairhope, evidently I looked a lot like Maurice because people would come to me and say "Maurice. when did you get back?" Then this song came out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PmVusVh4TRQ I took the first line as a nickname about 38 years ago. This is the pier today. It was a lot less developed back then.

Beagle is my nickname, although a lot of the people I know now don't call me that. It came about by way of smoke filled enhancement. When I was hanging out with the band at the "band house" (the lead singer's father had passed away and his mother moved to Texas - this was in TN), we were passing the left handed cigarettes around and watching Charlie Brown on TV. one of the other band members came in and said "Hey, it's the Reester Beagle" pointing at the TV as Snoopy danced across as the "Easter Beagle" the name stuck...

Well funny you should ask. My forum name really started from my first computer trama when I first connected to the internet back in the dial up days. I was certain I had to use my name or I'd never remember it. I thought choosing an email name would be easy but it got ugly. I tried every variation of my initials with my name...every time, error that name is taken. Just when I was about ready to take a fit, I seen a button for them to choose one for you. ohgrant is what they came up with. I'm pretty sure if I change it now, all hell is going to break lose.

Bub... have you thought of moving to the Pacific Northwest? Other places get more total rain than we do out here... but we get more or less perpetual drizzle for typically eight months or so of the year (we also didn't have our first 90 degree day until early August). In terms of cloudy days, Portland has more of them than any other major city in the U.S. (even Seattle). Of course, if you really want rain, the town to move to is Forks, Washington. That town is in the middle of the Olympic Peninsula (only temperate rain forest in the world) and that area averages about 175 inches of rain a year. As for my forum name... it is descriptive... 'cause I am "an older one, too".

Being a young and attractive woman I didn't want to represent myself as being that among a peer group of predominantly geeky, middle aged men that were likely to get fixated on something as mundane as a sports bra. Of course I wanted to be considered for my character and serious musical sensibilities instead. HTH

Bapu is as Bapu does. (or so I Am told) Most of you old timers might remember the long story. The short story is it's how my first grandson (now 14, whoooooa!) decided to call me; instead of "grandpa" as his mother, my daughter, was trying to teach him. His younger brother (12 in January, double whooooooa!) just presumed that is who I was. Guess he was too lazy to come up with a new name. I love him just the same. I'm sure the third grandson, just turned one, will do the same.
