I have issues that supports this. I lost use of the touch pad on my laptop around then. Am not able to get it back. This happened sometime after this last summer as well. Got corrected at a later date / Win update.
All the best.

i lost my touchpad after going from 8.1 --> 10, and then couldn't get "disabled" to stick (as i use a mouse), and like you this got foxed at some point via an update... i do think that all windows updates are visible via cp though, i don't think they're backdooring us with stuff

I am not by far familiar enough with Windows in general to give an educated guess, but it has coincided with Windows updates the last times. I have to use a mouse now. I do not even have the opportunity to select touch pad in Windows preferences. It is just missing...

One thing I have noticed lately on my Win 10 PC's is that Microsoft is shipping a lot of hardware driver updates with Windows Update. I don't know why.  Some of them appear to be vendor drivers, but no info is available.  I don't trust Microsoft to know what drivers are compatible with my PC.  Most crashes and blue screens are driver related.

For maximum compatibility, you are probably better off using only your hardware vendors supplied drivers to access all your available hardware features.

So I try to never install drivers from Microsoft if I can avoid it.  Some of these might be slipping thru when you perform monthly updates.

I have my monthly updates locked down, so that I can run them only when I am ready, and have made my backups.
Prior to allowing updates to download and install, I run a Microsoft utility called "wushowhide", and hide all the driver updates.  I keep them hidden, in a pseudo-quarantined state, so that WU cannot see them.  Wushowhide performs a search for any available updates for your PC.  In the GUI you can check ANY available updates that you wish to hide from WU.  This process is reversible, you can "un-hide" updates at any time as well.

If you have automatic updates enabled, you will be toast.  They will install before you can hide them.

Download wushowhide info here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3073930

well for me it was a case of not-ready win10 drivers, so win10 was playing it safe - check the website of your touchpad manufacturer for win10 drivers?

No problems here running W10 AU and Splat 12.2016 until yesterday (Tue 27/12). Suddenly it got stuck on the splash screen when starting Splat.

After a lot of trial and error I managed to get it started by holding shift down when starting Splat. However all was not well and the Yamaha ASIO drivers for my Steinberg UR242 audio i/f had disappeared from within Splat although were still visible and working in W10.

So I removed / reinstalled the drivers in W10 and then Splat started normally and could see my ur242 again.

Incidentally, I dual boot Windows 7 /10 and Splat has been stable in Win 7.

Running my Sonar in Compatibility Mode causes Addictive Drums to not work! Not using CM causes crashing when removing softsynths.....

Boy, what a mess! Any resolution on the horizon?

Hi,

1) Was it ever stated or known WHICH Windows update is causing the issues?

2) Can reinstalling Sonar and/or hardware drivers AFTER the updates help? I had a recent issue with my audio drivers that seemed to go away after reinstalling them.

3) Why would running a system monitor change how Windows and Sonar interact?

Thanks!

Hi folks,

For anyone in this thread that is still experiencing a 3rd Party plug-in crash on scan or load in SONAR on Windows 10, please post your CWBRN # below if you've submitted a crash dump along with the report.  If you haven't submitted a formal report yet (through Fault Reporter or https://www.cakewalk.com/Support/Contact/Problem-Report), please do so and list the number here.

Thank you,
Jim

There's a beta for certain plugins. Workaround is to run Resource Manager. See post #1 for details.

Create new project
Insert a third party synth (Chromaphone, Aria Player, Kontact Player etc.)
Close project without saving - crashes every time.

Ever since this debacle with the runtime errors with plugins when opening CWP’s, I've been doing fine using 2016.09 with the latest MS updates from 10/9. My runtime errors suddenly disappeared on 12/20 without me changing anything.

Since then I've looked into what MS is doing to change our computers without our permission and disabled their silent updates with a regedit affecting Content Delivery Manager and also disabled Metro apps updates. Disabling the regular autoupdates didn't disable these other types of updates.

So last night I got brave and did all the Win updates and all the Plat updates, including early access for CA-2A and Rapture. I've opened several projects and all is well so far. If I get any crashes or runtime errors I'll post back here, but my initial impression is Cakewalk and MS have fixed these problems – thank you!

you might want to start a new threat on that silent update topic over in the cakewalk computer forum. there are some very knowledgeable people hanging out there who may share more on that subject.

I'm using AIR Transfuser, CA2A, Amplitube, some synths. Sometimes I've got crashes, but I really don't get what's the cause.

Sorry I don't have one but I can create them, I put the information in the problem report forum should I create a ticket. I didn't think I needed to because lance had responded to my post on the forum that y'all where going to make it a priority.

Hi Thornton,
Your first issue should be fixed in the January update (the markers control).  Development also researched, but was unable to reproduce any problem with the arm control.  Please submit a report to the Problem Reporter (http://www.cakewalk.com/Support/Contact/Problem-Report) with a repeatable recipe and they'll take another look.  It's possible a vital step or something unique to your setup got missed in your discussion with Lance.

Thank you,
Jim

I can say that on all my machines all of which run Windows 10 Pro after the update for Sonar in Dec. plus the early access of Rapture Pro I have had a very stable Sonar on all machines. The laptop and tablet have no soft synths that use sample libraries but they do have all the Pro Channel modules including CA2A. The table is 32 bit Windows 10. The others are 64 bit.
