A quick count of one of the bass sfz shows 16 velocity layers w/ 2 samples per layer.
A snare sfz has 24 velocity layers w/ 2 samples per layer.
Toms are similar.

I guess what perplexes me a bit is, if there's multiple samples that can be dynamically triggered per drum, and the source trigger (original drum) can be dynamically tracked, why not advertise that? I don't see any mentions of that in the Drum Replacer page or videos. Would be good to know for those already familiar with Drumagog 5, for example.

Orphaned at Birth
With regards to file formats, REX, flac etc, wasn't what that Bill dude from cakewalk saying, that you can use any of the file types that Sonar can handle, and Drum replacer can't natively by just dragging them into Sonar and they will be automatically converted to wav ? Then you can use them in Drum Replacer ? Forgive me if this was obvious, but I just got the feeling of a little misunderstanding (probably on my part, just skimming through on my phone, not really ideal)

Anyway, Sonar Platinum is pretty cool, and the forums, well, they are interesting, perusing through the threads, it seems it's not an entirely happy place, which is fine, certainly some 'characters' for want of a better word :)

No you're not misunderstanding that is what Bill Jackson said. Although I'm not sure about REX files as I've always thought that Sonar loads them natively, that is I don't think they're changed to wav though if I'm wrong it's easy enough to drag a REX file into a track and then use it in DrumReplacer. That will instantly tell you whether it's converted to a .wav file or not.

As for the forums; there's only a handful of people who seem to lose control of themselves and make the place a bit smelly. If needs be you can block them but generally at least it's still a good place for help with all things Sonar. Enjoy your time here.

Nice plug for Drum Replacer from our partners at Celemony.
And a review from Create Digital Music praising the integrated Drum Replacer as well as Cakewalk's industry leading monthly update program.

Drum replacer? Love it. Easy and quick to use and resource friendly. A great addition.

Cheers!

Anyone remember where Bil Jackson posted the link to his little utility for making an sfz file. I thought it was this thread but it seems to have been removed.

Or if you see this Bill Jackson. I have a copy of CwDrSfzMaker and I would like to host it on my Onedrive along with all the 6 or 7 other useful programs that the members have developed. I would of course include the no liability accepted proviso you had on the post when you gave us the original link.

So, I have a complete tune ready except for a drum track. I do loops in EZD2 for drums, but wondering if I should take a stab at DR. It has a high hat click track at 123 bpm.... Soliciting opinions to see if it is worth taking a stab?

Seems you haven't done the update to Sonar Everett. It doesn't work with the previous release called Dorchester.

I've been getting lots of crashes, so I reinstalled Sonar hopefully it should be repaired. Also went into the Downloads folder and cleared out some of the earlier builds of updates and components.  We'll see if that helps.
