I don't think I would gain anything being a BFD 2 owner bu were I not I'd snap this up damn quick.

Hang on, is this right, their throwing in a £169 expansion pack free???
Hmmm maybe it's worth getting after all at that price.

    Yes Steve,

They are throwing in a Free 2 GB flash drive (Who Cares.., right), and the  Fxpansion Greatest Hits Vol. 1 Expansion Pack -worth  $169.00 MSRP! and Free shiping.   My final payment was $49.00!

I 've been thinking in investing in BFD2, but I'd will take the BFD ECO to save some cash and processing power.

Well BFD 3 is just around the corner but I see some nice things in the expansion packs.
I'm not sure that musicians friend ship to the uk or if they do I don't see it included in their price. Have emailed them.

Once you've had eco for a while you'll probably start wanting the full Monty.
BFD 3 is expected to be far more efficient with ram and cpu.

Quick question for anyone (twaddle??) who might know.  Does BFD run BitBridged in Sonar/Windows 7 64bit??....as that is what I have.

    I run BFD2 in Sonar 64, Win7 64

    Runs perfect, no problems.

I assume it's using bitbridge as I never told it to use jBridge (I don't have jBridge),  it simply works.

As it doesn't seem to be mentioned on Musician's Friend, here's a little something maybe some will find worth considering (from FX Pansion's site): "Each kit-piece features a maximum of 24 velocity layers, at 16-bit resolution, for each of its articulations. Any expansion pack kit-pieces are also reduced to this detail level when loading them within BFD Eco."

Not meant to be negative, just FYI.

Just been listening to some of demo sounds here (http://www.fxpansion.com/index.php?page=90)
The jazz kit sounds superb, not that I do a lot of jazz but I've always loved the natural organic kit sounds you get in a jazz kit, often the way it's played though.

As for 16 bit, I doubt that there is anyone on this forum or on this planet even who can honestly hear the difference between 16bit and 24bit audio.
It's something that was discussed to death when 24bit audio cards were being introduced. I kind of felt the only real benefit of 24bit over 16bit was about head room when it came to mixing and that you could push the levels that bit higher. Someone should do a taste test (sonically) just to see if people really can tell the difference. I don't think I could.

Under the System Specs section, it only lists Windows XP, Vista & 7 (32bit). It's not clear if it will work on 64 bit Windows. It uses challenge/ response for authorization on up to 3 systems. With the other limitations listed compared to BFD2, it's still a great deal for $50 with the expansion pack and the flash drive. I'm going for it.

Like BFD2, it will work in a 64bit OS or Host (via a wrapper) but it's not a 64bit program/plugin. So yeah...it'll work. But it won't be a native 64bit plugin that can address more than 2GB's of RAM (not that I think it ever would need more than 2GB of RAM being a stripped down version of BFD2).

Regarding the 24bit vs. 16bit difference...I honestly can't hear it. You don't loose anything with it being 16bit only. And as a BFD2 owner...it does give you a lightweight version you could use on a laptop while also providing a newer/nicer interface (IMO), so there is some benefit.

Note for the sake of full disclosure that I beta test for FXpansion, which included testing ECO.

BFD is loosely based on a GM mapping, but since it has more articulations than GM allows for, there's certainly differences. For instance GM allows for what...3 hat articulations? BFD adheres to those three, but offers considerably more. So, you won't need to remap your whole kit, but you may need to tweak the odd articulation here and there to get the most out of BFD's mapping when starting with GM.

It took me awhile to find demo mp3 files on the free expansion kit they're including.... it's here: http://www.fxpansion.com/index.php?page=90&tab=245

Just downloaded all the mp3 sample files.... there are gobs of um!  listening on my android phone... pretty sweet!

Thanks for the tip... just what I need... to spend more $$$.  My wife's gonna cut my noodle off!

By the way, just got the new NI Komplete and still haven't even tried  Battery yet... do I really need this (it does look quite nice and more intuitive and sounds great)?

    Hey funkybot
will the eco mixer presets load in to BFD 2?
I'm guessing yes but perhaps not the other way as Eco doesn't have all the fx

Hang on, is this right, their throwing in a £169 expansion pack free???
Hmmm maybe it's worth getting after all at that price.

    Steve

    Oh ...... I missed that!

Thanks Steve, as you say, at that price it'd be foolish not to pick it up.

So it says "Ship to Canada..."

Are those Canadian $ prices?  Will they ship to UK ? Someone asked, what did they say? If anything?

Don't thank me Bristol, thank Jesse.

Yeah I emailed them and got an automated "we will respond within 24 hours" so should hear soon. I'm sure it can't cost much to send a couple of DVD's to the UK.
