Might be worth switching it from Mackie mode into another. Shut down and restart. Then switching it back to Mackie mode. I really can't think of anything else to suggest. Has it always been like this or started recently? I can't even think the unit's faulty as the buttons must work to be able to use the first 2 modes. Sorry.

Ok.Ok.Ok. FastBikerBoy I solve the problem. The problem is in language of Sonar. If you install Sonar in other language of English (in my case Spanish) the name of certain plugins isn't the same and certain function and buttons in Mackie emulation don't work. Ex: When I push in BCF2000 the EQ button 1 time in the BCFview I have 'Track 1: "Audio 1", Plugin: "Track Eq" this is the problem, in spanish Sonar I have 'Track 1: "Audio 1", Plugin: "Eq de pista". For fix the problem I edited the file MackieControl.ini and I replaced "Track Eq" for "Eq de pista" and "Bus Eq" for "Eq de bus" and this resolve the problem in EQ mode 3. I look for others plugins. Best regards & Thank for all.

At the first time I haved installed Sonar8(in Spanish) and F1. not work, later I installed Sonar6(in Spanish, of course), same problem. I load in the BCF2000 the factory preset, I lower the firmware to 1.07, reload 1.10, drivers one more time, and I obtained the same result. I investigated in the Sonar folder Shared Plugin, the plugins with extension.ini in this files I look the presets for the plugins, and in the folder Shared Surfaces I look MackieControl.ini in this file I see the description and parameters for FX and Sonitus plugins but I don't see anything. Another day I see in the BCFview the name of plugin in spanish and I remenber the name description [Track EQ] of MackieControl.ini. I try to install Sonar7, in this version not exist spanish language I install in English and I try EQ button in mode 3 and this work(ooooH), I see the BCFview display and the name of plugin was "Track EQ" not "Eq de pista". I go to computer with Sonar6(in spanish) I modified the MackieControl.ini Et Voila! fix the problem. Thank you and Thanks to Blades for your interest. P.D.- Blades, I waiting for you 3 Video Tutorial.

Track selection is governed by using the select button on the required channel number and then pressing M1+Select (i.e. M1+Shift 2 + rewind). That will select all the data in the track that you have selected on the track/fader area. Example... 1. Press 'Channel select, on track 2. Highlight shifts to track 2 2. Press M1+Shift 2+Rewind. All data in track 2 should now be highlighted. To select different time areas seems complex at first but is very easy once you get used to it. Depending on which mode button you have lit controls how the fast forward and rewind buttons behave. For example press Shift 2 + fast forward will put you in marker mode. Now when you press rewind the now time will jump back to the previous marker (if there is one) and likewise fast forward will jump the now time forward to the next marker(if there is one) Shift 2 + Rewind is Select mode and the ff and rewind buttons will jump between 'from time' & 'thru time' respectively Shift 2 + Stop is Loop mode - ff & rewind jump from loop start to end respectively Shift 2 + Play is punch mode - ff & rewind jump from punch start to end respectively. To set these regions put into the relative mode and then press M1+rewind to set 'from time; and M1+FF to select 'thru time'. Then simply turn the mode on by pressing Shift1+required mode key. For example to set up a loop. 1. Put into loop mode - Shift 2+Stop. 2. Set loop start - M1+rewind 3. Exit loop mode to allow full use of transport buttons - Shift 2+Stop 4. Use transport keys to move to desired end time (remember you can use the marker mode/select mode etc to jump to various points) 5. Re-enter loop mode - Shift 2+Stop 6. Set loop end - M1+FF 7. Turn on loop mode - Shift 1+Stop Sounds long winded I know but once you learn the modes and get used to it you can select regions in split seconds. Hope this helps a bit but have a play around you'll get the idea.

Can anyone tell me if you map BCF2000 controls in Makie Control Mode to any knob in say Rapture or Pentagon or LP64 plugins? Thanks Blades. I'm thinkinking about getting a control surface and I found your videos on using the BCF2000 very helpful. It would appear to offer control of more object parameters than an Alpha Track. I would very much like to know whether it is as effective for soft synth control.

It's not very effective for ME for softsynth control. In plugin mode it can support a number of effects, but it's a pretty small list. I have an Edirol PCR300 that I use for that stuff. The ACT stuff works well with it and it keeps me concentrating on the seperate functions. The stuff on the keyboard is generally for keyboard stuff. I use the Behringer for actual mixing, mostly due to the motorized faders - takeover of the controls works ok in ACT for synth parameters and stuff, but it's just wierd when you try to use it after having switch the banks of the channels that you are controlling. If you are in Mackie mode on the BCF, unfortunately, you can't just switch mid-stream to ACT mode. You would have to reboot the BCF to switch its mode and Sonar doesn't like when you do that when it's running, so exiting Sonar and going back in is usually necessary to get things right. This is, of course, terrible for workflow.

To a degree, yes, but it's some manual editing of the MackieControl.ini file and trying to make heads or tails of what works and what doesn't. Take a look through that file, make a backup copy of it, and edit according to how it seems like it would work. If you aren't fairly familar with edits of files like this, it may not be your bag...

Thanks for the info! I am very new to sonar and have the BCF2000. I am using Sonar 8.3.1. Does your tutorial apply to Sonar 8? When I plugged in the usb, it atomatically loaded the drivers. I am running Vista. Thanks for your help!

The tutorial will work for V8 and Vista. there may be slight variations but they will be that - slight. The principal is still the same. Load the drivers, switch it into Mackie mode. Set up the control surface in Sonar with the INs/OUTs etc and away you go. Any problems just post up, there are several of us on here that use them so help is never far away. A great bargain piece of kit once you've got it set up.

Has anyone figured out a way to assign fader channels on the BCF2000 to specific channels? When I'm using synths, I don't always need a fader for the midi tracks, just for synth output. Also, I would like to assign fader #8 to my main output or main bus when I'm not using more than 7 channels. Any advise?

You'll need to set it up via ACT. You can't assign the faders on the fly to synths in Mackie mode. You can use the faders to control main outputs or busses in Mackie mode though you just need to put the BCF into the correct mode using 1st shift (top left button in the right hand panel) with top right button for buss mode and 2nd shift (below 1st shift) + top right button for main outs. I find the Mackie mode excellent and use a PCR-800 for synth control, but if Mackie mode doesn't suit you - ACT's the way to go.

The new mode in one of the 8.x updates that allows you to have the control surface only show the channels which are not hidden is not a solution to thins, but helpful, at least. Maybe you'll get lucky. Basically, if a track is hidden or is contained in a folder that is collapsed, the faders of the BCF will not align to them. So if you have collapsed all of the track folders except for the last one (for example), channel one on the BCF would line up with the first exposed track in that last folder. If you then expanded a folder above that one, slider one on the BCF would automtically move to control the first exposed track in the track view. If it so happens that you only have 3 track sin taht top folder, then 1/2/3 sliders would control the three tracks in top folder, and 4/5/6/7/8 sliders would control the first 5 channels of the other exposed folder. Does that make sense? To make that feature work that way, go to Options...Controler/Surfaces and then in that dialog, look across the bottom and you'll see "Control Strips Visible in:". Choose whichever view you want the faders to follow. My example above has it chosen in Track View. The old default operation is in All mode. Hope this helps.

I haven't done this, I believe CJ has and I'm sure he'll chime in but as I understand it you need to set the ID of the units to 1, 2, & 3. Then set up the first unit as per Blade's tutorial then add the additional 2 BCFs as Mackie XT in the controller/surfaces dialogue.
