Behringer BCF2000 Setup and Use in Sonar - Tutorial
Hello all, I have (finally) put together my tutorial for how to setup the BCF2000 from Behringer in Mackie Emulation mode for Sonar. This tutorial covers all from where to get the downloads and what to do with them once you have them to make Sonar ready to use the BCF2000. There is another video following (within the day, hopefully) showing how to use the BCF2000 within Sonar. These are pretty big Flash movies, so you need Flash installed to view them, and if you have a slow connection, you will need to have some patience until the video loads - I didn't cerate a "per-loader" flash movie to go with it I hope that these videos are helpful. Check part one out here: xxx no longer valid link edit: I have replaced the first video with a smaller (hopefully more reliable) version and uploaded the second part... edit again: These videos have been moved directly to my website. Please check them out there. Here are the links: Check in the Sonar section at blades.technology

Thanks blades, it was a little difficult to follow since the screen was mostly red...but we appreciate the work.
I'm using SOnar Platinium on a 6 core Lynx Audio machine and a ton of vintage pre-amps/eq's/comps I build for fun and sometimes money, REDD.47/API/Neve I also use the UAD stuff, and also use a Macbook Logic 9 through Apogee...

You know - I saw that anomoly a few times when testing, but the thing that seemed to make it happen was when you move forward and back in the movie before the full caching of it happens. Dragging on the "timeline" at the bottom doesn't seem to work very well with this particular flash player either, which sometimes caused this wierd red box stuff, whereas just clicking at the spot you want to forward to worked ok. This was all in IE7. I just used the html that was output by the capture app and the sqf it generated - basically uses swfobject as its presenter - nothing fancy. I think it's mostly a video size issue. I'm trying an flv for the second half to see if I can shrink it at all (just checked and it's much smaller than the 144mb it was coming out - now it's down to 40mb. Great - I'll get it posted shortly.

Thanks, professionally done. Do you have part 2 yet? Actually I'd be very interested as I don't own the bcf2000 but have considered it, and it would be nice to see how others might use it. edit ...speeling

Hey Blades, The FLV did not cause any of the problems I was having last night with crashing IE. Plus the smaller foot print was nice, faster download.

I'd be happy to post these as downloadable, but I need some free time to do that. Currently, they are a Flash object calling on an FLV object, and it doesn't appear to work very well without the html/java that's kicking it off: in short, downloading just the files won't likely get you something you could play. So I'll have to translate them into wmv or something.

It's a crime that each and every software and hardware manufacturer doesn't have videos like these for each and every one of their products. Seriously - can you imagine the brand loyalty (assuming the product didn't otherwise suck) for a company that released how-to videos that actually addressed how to set-up their product with each of the major DAWs/OSs/etc? Some low-level pencil-pusher could move up the corporate ladder quickly by being the one to say "hey, I bet a lot of DAW enthusiasts (i.e., non-pros) would really like a step-by-step video..." I mean, c'mon, PDF manuals are soooooo 2008... And, yeah, I know there are a million possible combinations of manufacturers of soft- and hardware, but there are not a million PROBABLE combinations. If you release a MIDI controller, give a how-to video for the two major DAWs (Sonar and the others). If you release a VST plugin, ditto... Blades - what're you charging for, hmmmm, an Axiom 49 with ACT video that makes it work? I know, trick question, ACT can't be made to work!

If i had a choice between 2 controllers and they each do practically the same thing and same price.. BUT, i knew that one had a killer video that showed me how to set it up and run it. Which one would i choose?? Hum.Can anyone guess?? Cj
