good lyrics., sound like they could be placed in a movie well. I'm not big on the sound of his voice, but he's good for this type of style. The production is very good. I always love to hear your piano in a song, would have liked to hear a bit more in this one. the guitar is grand for this type of song. Happy New year Janet! Wow, Janet, you should be writing more songs with lyrics. This is excellent, and Jimmy did a superb job capturing the feel in his vocals and guitar playing. I'm inclined to agree with Jon that some more dynamics (instrumentation and/or vocal harmony) might add interest, but it works great just as is. So, if you do take a shot at some additions, I'd definitely say to hang on to this one just as is.

From the looks of the web site you have been busy! Nice stuff there. I like the vocals on The Clown Cries. Sounds Like Carolyn Arends (a LOT!). Awesome job with the mix on this too. Oh the new one sounds good too. I like others like the harmonies. Very nicely placed in the mix!

Thanks Terry. I really like Jimmy's voice...you've missed some other great songs of his. :-) That's not me on the piano, either. He did it all. Way better than I did too. :-) Thanks Phil. Ideas for lyrics come to me so seldom or I'd write more. Well, if I could sing, it would give me a lot more incentive to write too. On the other hand, almost all my instrumentals are inspired by at least one line. I just rarely take them any farther than that line. :-) Thanks Gary. I'm real tickled Jimmy did this for me. It was real special of him to do it. :-) Thank you, Pat, and welcome to the forum! Yeah, I've been going for quality and not quantity, although I do the best I can so far. lol Thanks for the kudos on 'The Clown Cries,' too. That's my singer-song-writer friend Callista. I'll tell her you like it. I'm sad she moved away, but she's still writing I hear.

It's really a beautiful song Janet... And to hear Jimmy sing it? And reflect on his untimely death... It's a little chilling. I mean the words? You didn't write this for or about Jimmy? But he sang it, and the way he sang it? It's almost as if he knew :-( A young man in a wheelchair, no feeling in his limbs, taking what life's dealt him, with his silly grins? he's looking to that final day, when he can be made new? And he can run and play... "Wants to be with his family, providing for their needs." "Now he is living for that glorious day. Cause he was born to run, born to fly. Born to be free, like the wind in the trees. When the savoir comes to take him home, he will be free, like he was meant to be... "When the savoir comes to take us home, we will be free, like we were meant to be..." I mean? It's like you wrote it for him, not knowing what was to happen :-( It's really very very touching hearing him sing it now. I've listened several times, it's very powerful.

I've been thinking about this song since I heard of his passing. I'm still amazed that you remembered it...it's been awhile. I suppose it has sort of universal application, which is what makes you think it's powerful. And what's more odd is that these things come to me so seldom, unlike some of you who write so prolificly. Thanks again Robby. I sure can't listen to it now or I'd be a mess. I will listen again some day.

+1 Let me just say this; I love this song, the euphonics, the top-shelf lyrics, Jimmy's perfect and sweet vibe. God bless you and keep you. This is my fav of yours and Jimmy's! Edit: Regarding the prophecy validated per Robby; I think its perfectly obvious some gospel magic must precede Jimmy's parting. If you (Janet) hadn't penned this, God would have inspired another; congrats for steeling the blessing. The fact is, Jimmy's songs have consistently been euphonic ... with unrequited love and salvation, thus giving immense honor to God. God would surely validate his parting.

Thank you so much, Philip. He worked magic on songs. I finally took a chance to listen to this again...I'd forgotten how he'd done a few cool changes with the chords. Man, he was good. I swear, my music won't be nearly as good as it could be from here on out without him prodding me on. Thanks Tim. He was good, wasn't he? And he did this in three days...better than I even imagined it.

Janet I swear, my music won't be nearly as good as it could be from here on out without him prodding me on. I suspect you may happily find that not the case. The prodding will continue, but from within yourself. The lesson does not vanish with the teachers' passing. We are all but pebbles tossed into a pond. Our ripples echo on distant shores long after we have sunk to the bottom. The ripples from the pebble that was Jimmy are far reaching indeed. Be the shore.

You know, Bob, I've thought about listening more carefully to his music, etc. And others' too, of course. And see what I can hear by myself. I'm not sure that will be as helpful as having others point things out to me, but certainly it could help. But thanks, Bob. You're a real poet and a real gentleman and great friend. Don't you leave any time soon, K?

Janet, I went through quite a few of Jimmy's songs last night from his soundclick list and it was really hard listening to them without shedding a tear. I remember this one all to well. To hear it again I couldn't help but play along. It's incredible how two very talented people can bring the most out of each other. It felt really good to hear his guitar and voice shape what is truly a magnificent composition ... I'm so thankful that you took the time to write such an inspiring song. You've come such a long way here and have set such fine example for the rest of us what a person can achieve with musical talent and production skills learned and shared in this forum. Thank you for your inspiration. I also realized what's especially different about this forum than other forums is that a person leaves a legacy behind which remains. We can always go back, listen and once again relate to that person. It's more than just the words that we leave behind ... Perhaps, we leave a part of our sole. Tim, I know you were interested in doing a version of this song as well at one time. That in itself, is a real testimony to the credence of this tune. ( I would personally love to hear a version from you if ever you get the chance ).

For the small part I had in this, thank you, Rigpa. Yes Frank, I am. Proud and humbled at the same time, if that's possible. Totally tickled that Jimmy did it for me. Thank you. :) It does to me too now, Kev. Jim, you're quite generous and too kind. Thank you. I'm so glad this song came about the way it did. Yeah, this forum is great, isn't it? I owe all you guys tons!! And I must give credit again to Daryl C. for giving me the key to learning how to write songs. He recommended to just write out in paragraph form what you want to say in each verse. Then get it to rhyme. Seems simple now, but that part of it was eluding me. It's still not easy, and the hardest part for me in writing songs is simply thinking of something to write about. Thanks again.
