Janet, for someone who typically doesn't write lyrics, this is a pretty impressive job. Touching , moving lyrics, and I'm not even Christian. Lovely spare vocal and guitar. Excellent work, and a great tribute both to Matt and Jimmy

Sheesh! I haven't been here in a while and missed this awesome song! Janet this is an incredible song. It really tugged on my heart strings and made me stop and evaulate some of my own personal issues. Thank you. Jimmy's singing was superb and the mix was just perfect for me. Thank you for sharing this.

Thanks Colonel. He did a real good job, didn't he? I agree, Larry. Thanks Mark. Sometimes something sneaks up on you and surprises you. That's sorta what this song did to me. I'm so glad Jimmy did it or it never would have seen the light of day. Thanks so much Rich. That's very generous of you. So glad you liked it. :)

Very touching song, great writing Janet.......Jimmy put a very heartfelt performance in on this one......I will sadly miss his very expressive guitar playing.

Thanks so much, Alan. Yes, I do too. Can't believe he was so hard on himself regarding his recording, etc. His sister says he was always that way though. :)

Hi Janet, I'm so sorry it took so long for me to get listen to "Born To Fly". I've been having trouble playing stuff on my net PC. Perhaps it's for the best. I was able to listen to it more objectively. It's a very good song that is even more poignant now that Jimmy is born to fly. Thanks for sharing it, Jan

Thank you, Freddy. Yes, he was good and he'll be missed. Just the other day I was playing a piano piece and kept thinking 'Jimmy would want me to do THIS or not do THIS.' I guess Bob was right...his legacy lives on. :) On another note, I sent about 5 songs, including this one, to HelloMusic a few months ago. They sent critiques back for each one. This one got the best rating, thanks to Jimmy. :)

This is my first visit here since Jimmy passed. This is a remembrance that Jimmy would love. I do! I'm sure he probably had no idea (or maybe he did) that it would be a tribute to him. It's beautiful, Janet, music and lyrics, and Jimmy seems to be here right now as the song ends. Wierd, huh? I was going to rewire a telecaster and Jimmy PMd me with some of the best instructions I could get. He didn't know me that well then and took a lot of time to help. We also talked about faith (concerning some of my lyrics) and I firmly believe that Jimmy is where I hope I will be when it is my time. I believe there is a place for good folk!

Thank you, Warren. :) I think up until a few months ago Jimmy had no idea how far advanced his condition was, as he kept talking about getting better so he could keep singing and help me with my mixes. :) He was a great guy, wasn't he? I also believe he's singing with the best of them now and enjoying himself more than we can ever imagine. Fortunately, it's not just a place for good folks, but for those of us who know we're bad but trust in the One who is good and made it possible for us to live with Him forever. :) Thanks again for stopping by.

One of the best songs ever posted here... And that's saying something. I was thinking about it today, and Jimmy. I hope he's flying today. I can't really listen to this without crying a little, but that's what music does? It touches us in ways that few other things can.

It still blows me away that he did this for me. And of course, he did it so well. I still miss him too...and still think about him almost every time I record....he influences my piano playing probably more than anyone.
