Brits

Great musicians.  Good comedians (like the oh-so-subtle Benny Hill).  Terrible food.

Why?  Does the terrible food make for a sense of humor and incite writing music?

Go on, put up the Spotted Dick/Faggot pics, we haven't seen them for days now.

You're right though, I'd much rather have some chocolate cake wrapped in bacon and smothered in 'American Cheese'.

No point going to a restaurant unless it's Indian. Alternatively, you need to eat in a pub. Pub grub is where it's at.

uh about 30 times.  I like England.  I love Scooterland.

Haggis?  Blood Pudding?  Spotted Dick?  Butties? Faggots?

Even the best food has virtually no flavor.  However, in fairness, the worst Brit food beats German food.

I hosted a big lunch in London where we had an entire poached Scottish Salmon for lunch.  They had steamed all the flavor out.

    The deserts are good though.

Yup, we have an official drought yet there's a couple of tankers with pumps right outside my window just now working all night taking away the excess because the fields have flooded due to the fact the dykes have burst their banks.

It has rained at some point everyday for the last two months the last two days it hasn't stopped hardly.

I think the British have a different definition of drought than anyone else that's for sure.

The food here is delicious though by any standard, 'cept we serve Americans the slops we won't eat and when we hear that familiar accent we get all that out of date stuff out of the fridge and serve it up for them.  It's a tradition handed down from father to son.

btw I noticed when he was over Bapu wasn't liking our British becan.  He said it tasted like erm... pig.

The reason being we tend to serve up back rashers when you ask for becan, it is a better cut of meat and more lean.

So when you come over here expecting the taste of home from your becan you have to specify 'streaky' becan because you won't get the cured offal cut from the belly otherwise, and that's what you guys prefer, full fat no lean offal.  Mystery solved.

Have you ever had Yorkshire Pudding and a Roast??  Thats one dish the brits can claim, Yorkshire Pudding that is.  Also I may be wrong but I think it was the brits who were the first to make chip's.

Another great Yorkshire treat is Parkin cake.

But this is all in the past, I have not been to The United Kingdom, although technically I am allowed a passport.

This Britain died a long time ago from my reading of the situation, it is a melting pot of different ethnicities, so what is British food these days??

    That would be the question??

No, it's because 52% of our days are overcast. This imbues us with a wistful disposition, making us prone to bouts of melancholia, binge drinking and casual violence.

On the plus side, we do have Nectar Points.

I echo what James is saying there.

Being stuck indoors most of the time makes us moody, therefore there's nothing we like more than venturing out into a warm climate and invading it.

Either that or we remain set down indoors developing weird psychosisises and become angry and quirky at the same time.  Exploding introverts I suppose.

Always blame the weather, the government or the economy.

I never blame the food because most foriegners I eat usually taste much the same.

the problem is that when americans come to the UK, they eat in the wrong places.
No point going to a restaurant unless it's Indian. Alternatively, you need to eat in a pub. Pub grub is where it's at.

Exactly.  Because proper brit food is tasteless and bland.  Pub Grub (love me some bangers and mash or steak and kidney pie) or curry shops - though it is hard to call a curry shop brit food.

I have been to London maybe 30 times.  The only Brit restaurant I cared for was the Rib Room next to the Savoy.

    But I love Brit people!

    Why?
There is a large community in the UK that originates from India but is now on 2nd an 3rd generation born and bred in the UK. There are quite a few 'Indian' dishes that originated in the UK (Balti originated in Birmingham and is hugely popular)

Labskaus - a delicacy of Northern Germany

As I recall from the one time i tried it in Hamburg:
     - Brine cured beef
     - Herring
     - Beets
     - Pickles
     - Eggs
     - Pickles
All pureed to the consistency of baby food
Then skillet fried like a hamburger
and served with pieces of Herring, a Fried Egg, generous portions of pickles....

There is plenty worse than Brit Food.
